Whos Your Favorite To Win # 2 Corner As Of Right Now And Other Upcoming Camp Battles

Recommended Posts

Hogan should be the #2 corner with Captain playing the nickel.

Nakamura will start at FS.

McClain will start at DT next to Edwards.

Silatolu will start at one of the guard positions with Hangman on the other side.

- Hogan should win the number two corner job as he plays smart.

- McClain will win the 3 tech (Neblett is more of a two technique anyway, so I think he will back up Ron Edwards there)

- Sherrod Martin will still be the free safety. Martin knows his job isn't safe anymore and will fight for it now that it's not being handed to him.

- Silatolu wins the left guard spot and in my opinion he will be the best guard on the roster.

Way too early to know. Who has seen any of our corners play in the system to be installed by the new DB coach? If we play man versus mostly zone it could change who comes out on top. If we play 1 gap attack style across the board versus the nose playing 2 gap and the 3 technique playing 1 gap it changes who is best equipped to handle it on the defensive line. Last year we installed a defense on the fly and couldn't really put in what we wanted to run. This year we have a whole off-season to develop our scheme. I would caution folks not to make too much of anything that happened last year either good or bad. We will not run the same scheme so what happened last year might or might not apply.

Hogan wins #2 CB spot, Captain #3, Norman #4, Butler cut.

DT's will be a rotational thing; Edwards as the starter on one side with McClain/Fua/Kearse/Neblett rotating in at the other.

LaFell easily beats out Gettis for the #2 WR spot, not that that's a big question mark at this point.

Dark horse: D.J. Campbell wins the starting FS job, Martin is cut/traded.

    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
