Jacoby Jones Visiting Panthers

Recommended Posts

Jones was basically run out of town on a rail because of the muffed punt (even though his agent asked for his release, and it was granted after a discussion). poo happens. Plus he had big shoes to fill for Johnson. I don't think it will hurt for us to sign him if it comes to that.

I am VERY pleased with the emphasis on Special Teams. Hope we get him, should be a vet minimum contract. So important to field a good ST unit when it comes to field position.

I do hope his ball security improves though. Probably a #2 option as a returner behind Pilares & Adams.

What if Hurney strikes a 700k deal like he did with tolbert? Hurney Magic.

I think Armanti was gone the second we drafted Joe Adams. This further solidifies that presumption.

Smitty, Lafell, Gettis, Adams, Pilhares are pretty much entrenched.. so there is only 1 other spot available on the roster.

Seyi Ajirotutu and Armanti Edwards are as good as gone if we take Jacoby Jones. He is a very good KR specialist.. better than Pilhares.

I would not say gettis is safe but if he is back to his old self he should make the team.

Jacoby Jones - 31 rec, 512 yards, 16.5 ypc, 2 TDs

Brandon LaFell - 36 rec, 613 yards, 17.0 ypc, 3 TDs

LaFell is slightly better in each category. But when consider that he had TJ Yates as his QB for several games, I think you can call it even. Also, we threw the ball more than the Texans, which can alter the stats.

Tallest midget

If Gettis is back to his old self then he will be competing for the starting job with LaFell.. don't you remember those 2 were battling in training camp last season? Gettis actually had a leg up on LaFell before his injury. Not sure why you think he is on the bubble.

    • Yeah this needs to happen ASAP. I don’t care if the price is lower. These Vikings fans on Twitter are absolutely insufferable. Acting like they have been world beaters for the last 60 years and thinking Carolina should just hand him over for nothing. We’ve had 7 or so tough seasons in a row and we have still been to two superbowls since they have and won more playoff games since 1995.    I hope Dan sends him to Detroit for a 2040 7th rounder and eats half the contract. Even Sheena is replying to them.
    • I hope your cath went well
    • So did the Panthers initiate this by making him "available for the right price" or was this something Thielen himself pushed for? I also never saw this quote he made about JJ McCarthy back in June. https://sports.yahoo.com/article/panthers-adam-thielen-both-asked-182711572.html Thielen believes McCarthy is built for big moments and will eventually show the world the skillset that won the Michigan Wolverines a national championship in 2023/2024. He even said McCarthy could be the “face of the league.” “I have high expectations for him. I've been able to be around a little bit through some of the time last summer... back in Minnesota, and I think he has the ability to be one of the great quarterbacks this season and the face of this league at some point. You know, I think he's got every tool and intangible that you can have,” Thielen said. “Obviously, it's a difficult league and it's not gonna just be easy, but I think he has the ability to handle adversity to be able to be big in big moments, as you saw when he was in college. I think he's got a great support staff around him, whether it be the coaches or the trainers.” Sounds like he's had one foot out the door for some time now.
