Anyone Water Ski?

Zod

Recommended Posts

My goal this summer is to get comfortable with one ski. Right now I am just working on getting up on it. Almost had it over the weekend. Any tips or advice?

Water skied a ton growing up.

Are you trying to drop a ski, or get up with 1?

What size motor do you have on your boat?

Who do you have driving, are are they experienced?

Do you have an accurate speedometer on the boat?

What do you weigh, and what size ski are you trying to slalom with?

I don't know why, but when I am on the water, I prefer to wake board over water ski.. When I am on the slopes, I prefer to ski over snowboard. I am a decent water skier just because I lived on the lake for a summer. Never tried one ski, but remember when 'icing' people was a thing? It was a stupid fad, but I was skiing once, and my buddy pranked me by pulling up beside me on the jet ski and handing me a Smirnoff. I took a knee and almost finished it before wiping out. Hurt like hell.

I thought you got the hang of it last summer?

At first, when I was learning, it was easier to get up on two skis and then drop one. After a few hours on one, I got the "feel" for the slalom and I found it rather easy to start off with one ski. If you have a good sense of balance, it should come naturally.

As previously mentioned though, you need a sufficiently powerful boat and an experienced driver. If the driver/boat takes too long getting up to speed it will make for a miserable experience.

Here is a better explanation:

Always enjoyed slaloming the most, lots of fun and worth the effort. Good luck!

Note: Watch out for partially submerged logs floating in Lake Wylie! If you are still having a difficult time, find an ocean cove with calm waters to try it in, the greater buoyancy of the salt water makes it much easier.

    • BY needs to be more consistent and continue to make big plays in big moments. Like take over a couple of series a game, particularly at the end. If he can't become that, then they should be looking for his replacement.  You can not blame a QB for losses with the worst oline/receiver/coaching combination this team has ever had - in his rookie season at that. And then a below average receiving group to go with the worst defense in NFL history his second season. I don't understand. QBs aren't one man teams. It takes a team to win games. 11 on offense, 11 on defense, 11 on special teams, an OC, a DC and a HC. Let's have more than one play of 25+ yards of YAC in a season before condemning the QB for not breaking 300 yards passing a game. Perfectly acceptable to have high expectations but let's not be completely unrealistic.
    • He’s not a safety in reality. Doesn’t do anything besides ST, but is very good at that. With how awful we’ve been there past few years just find room for him somewhere and do it
    • Canales said it was a concern when he was justifying all his roster moves. Which I still say you can’t  take what coaches say as the gospel when they are explaining things on a mic. Hunter said we got games coming up, so I guess we will see.
