Pats releasing Chad Ochocinco

I was just about to post this.

I don't know. If Chad is humbled from his experience (or lack there of) in New England I think it would be cool to reunite him and Steve Smith. Give him a vet minimum contract and see what he does in camp if it works good if not cut him. I think that between Smitty, Riv, Beason and all the other guys Chad wouldn't step out of line.

Do NOT want. Don't care if he and Smitty were college team mates...

With that said, we'll probably pick him up with this new cap space. He can still spread the field and open up offense.

This will hurt LaFell and Gettis if we do this though.

Honestly, I have a soft spot for Chad. He's a great player on and off the field. Very interactive with the fans too. Seeing him in a Panthers Jersey would be cool. But I don't know If that's the best move the FO can make. He's a legit #2 if he comes here though. Smitty and Ocho. Crazy man. Crazy.

Hell to the no, that whole crap he pulled in Cincy, bashing his HC, and all the crap he was doing during the lockout, Hell no. If he went to New England and was the same character he was in Cincy, then I could respect him for who he is, (still wouldn't like his attitude, but I would respect it), but he goes to NE, and turns into some humble guy. Hell with Ocho......

Why do people even waste their time speculating on signing guys like this? There is a 0% chance of us signing Ochocinco and anybody that has been a Panthers fan for more than a few years should know this by now. In fact, I'm so confident we're not signing him that I'll give $8.50 at training camp to each person that pies this post.

I can't be mad at him. When we played the Bengals two years he brought free food and a alcohol for the first 85 people to show up to Brazas and waited around to take pictures with everyone that was there even me with my Panthers jersey on. It was pretty cool...

If he can learn the offense and focus he's a better #2 than anyone on our roster (and I say that as someone who is actively rooting for Lafell to set the world on fire)

Bring him in for a workout. Guy played with Smith at JUCO college. Thats literally the only reason I'd even consider taking a look at him. He had been overrated his whole career and had inflated stats for most of it. I think he's done. Dude can't even beat out Deion Branch for playing time.

    • yeah, now it's going to get awkward.  The team circles pay attention to all this stuff.  All the wives and girlfriends see the posts.  They all talk like everyone.  Football is just a normal world outside of the fact they play a game for lots of money.  Gossip travels. They know the Theilen's want out at this point.  Carolina is now the disappointed failed trade location.    So now AT takes sort of an inhouse hit in Carolina IMO
    • Ummm... The dude looked like he was about 180 pounds soaking wet with us (I don't care what his listed weight was/is) - he would have been destroyed in the run game even more than our current and past crappy ILBs. The problem is we primarily play 3-4 or nickel/dime - there is little room on the field for him because he isnt an edge LB blitzer and he can't cover for crap. The only thing he can do kind of well is be an in-the-box safety that can try and beat blockers to the spot because of his athleticism. Washington was able to make him work last year because they used him solely as an in-the-box safety and almost exclusively ran a single high FS. The funny thing is they had good yards/game stats against the pass despite most of their secondary having embarrassingly low PFF grades. Washington was also terrible against the run, which might explain why they gave up so few yards passing.
    • Just get the deal done. We've teased it so much that the Thielen's expect it. Now we run the risk of our veteran WR locker room presence becoming disgruntled. Just take what we can get, make him happy, and get future assets while freeing up snaps for guys who will be here beyond this season.
