IMO, if Shockey called and said he was ready, he may just get his spot back. And I believe he is the only TE not on the roster, who could still be added. He may not be elite anymore. But we don't need him to be elite, just for him to be Shockey.

Barney is another of those guys I have to wonder about. This will be his 5th year. He has to be working his azz off to make sure we don't miss Shockey? He has to realize he has a golden opportunity in front of him. I would have to think he is doing everything possible to show he is ready, able, and willing to TAKE that 2TE spot. Wonder what may happen if he does not step it up this year? It very well could be his last year as a Panther.

I am not afraid to say I am an ultimate hypocrite. I hated Shockey all the way up until he became a Panther. Then I fell in love with him.

I would love to have him back but it is going to come down to salary numbers. He would be a luxury at this point.

I enjoyed Shock last season, and his passion for the game is awesome. But he looked about as fast as Jeff King last year, and in my opinion I'd rather see Olsen getting the majority of TE snaps, as he's more of a game changer at this point in time. I expect Olsen to have a career year in 2012.

I think most here really appreciated shockey for the intensity and fire he brought to the offense. Him being here or not though I believe we will still have plenty of that if not more with smitty, cam, and coach rivera around.

shockey was an asshole... but he was OUR asshole, dammit. i loved me some shock while he was here.

i'm guessing the team wants to see what it has in barnidge in camp. if he comes out making play after play we'll probably let him take TE2... like our WR situation, he has a lot more years available to produce than shockey does.

if barnidge looks average than i wouldn't be one bit surprised to see shockey back sometime in july or august. hopefully he's staying in shape.

Statistically he was the 3rd best TE in Panther history behind Walls and Olsen. So much for not doing anything amazing.

If Barnidge doesn't step up in camp - or if he gets hurt - I expect Shockey to get a call immediately.

Someone around the league will get hurt at some point and Shockey will get a call.
