I've seen enough of Captain as a starting CB. I sure as hell hope we aren't penciling him in as the #2 CB. SOMEBODY, ANYBODY has to push him to the nickel role.

That's a good point but it depends on your goals. If you want to make the playoffs Captain might be barely good enough to get there. Norman may cost you a game or two but in the future he could be a stud.

You can't cut every rookie tacke that doesn't look like Ndonkeykong Suh their first year. Seriously, I think this year is a "let's see who has developed" year on the D-line.

I guess with any injury there is a window where you have to regain confidence in that joint or bone or whatever. Maybe Hogan hasnt taken that step yet, but there's a lot of offseason left and the competition hasnt started yet.

one way or the other, the secondary will be improved.

these guys have a year under their belt in the system. we've got more competition. we have a much better secondary coach that fits the system.

no reason to panic or to doubt that rivera knows what he's doing and will have the right guys on the field doing the right thing.

if captain wins the starting gig again, it could have to do with him finally getting good coaching in the secondary now.

even if he hasn't improved (which is very possible), if the defense as a whole is improved then what happens at CB2 isn't going to cost us games.

what happens at one position isn't going to kill the defense.

Captain is not good at all but in the right scheme with good players around him we can still win. Lot's of teams have whole on D and still win because they are "good enough". Belicheck trots out Edelman in the nickle and they won a ton of games....
