Did you think Barrett Ruud was more than JAG in Tampa?

Again, raw tackles doesn't mean what some claim. Just like passing yards....a lot of meaningless numbers can be found that don't indicate good play. Can indicate simply being on a field and no sucking balls

Your simple request was for me to go on a wild goose chase to find a good comment from some nerdy reporter about our underrated linebacker on a team that already doesn't get a lot of press outside Newton. Then you would just jump on your next stupid ass argument. And I think Barrett Ruud is a great linebacker so I don't know what the fug you're trying to get at here.

Too bad we brought in Kuechly, another tackling machine to be JUST ANOTHER GUY. Jeez how many of those losers do we need...

My point exactly. If there wasn't an arguement and he was this great player.....it wouldn't be a wild goose chase. It isn't hard to find people who think great players are great.

Kuechly doesn't project to be a 2 down NFL LB. Luke and Anderson aren't comparable. Luke projects to be an all around every down stud LB..... which isn't Anderson.

Great is for Willis, Lewis, Beason, etc... Ruud, Anderson (the guys who can just play) shouldn't be in the same sentence.

Nobody is saying that James Anderson and Barrett Ruud are in the same sentence as Patrick Willis, Jon Beason, or Ray Lewis. Us fans are simply giving our player props for stepping up and being a huge impact on defense last season.

James hasn't done anything but shut his mouth and play football. He hasn't spent any time nursing an injury, just making tackles and huge defensive plays that go unnoticed by simple fans like yourself.

Stop being so God damn negative all the time and stick up for your teammate for once.

This dude hated on JA hard in another thread too, repeatedly just calling him another guy and saying how much better San Fran is at LB than us.

It's not the first time he's disrespected a player on our team before either.

You just called Anderson ad Ruud great defensive players. If you do that.....it puts them in the class with great players. Those guys aren't great LBs.

Give him props for not being garbage and for being one of the few respectable guys on the field last year.....no issue with that.

So the whole argument is based on word choice now lol? Because I said he's a great linebacker instead of a 'good' or 'decent'?

You just love to argue, and argue against your team man, it's horrible and I don't know why you waste your time doing such a thing. Anderson is not a top linebacker in the league but certainly does a very good job, and while our star linebacker sat on the bench last year, Anderson stepped up and made great plays.

So fuging sorry that I back up my teammate rather than critiquing his every move and calling him 'just another guy'.

i dont even think it's that, just funny how he randomly picked Anderson's name out of the hat. He is better than most at his position, and most can't cover Colston, Graham or Gonzo either - not even Beason.

seems pretty reasonable to me.

Anderson still has big flaws in his game, but he's improved a lot from his first couple of years in the league, when basically the only thing he could do well was blitz off the edge.

I could give two shitts when some nerd that gets paid to make stuff up about football for money hates on the Panthers, but when some dude that calls himself a 'fan' just nods and agrees it pisses me off.

It reminds me of when a troll comes in and says "The Panthers suck! You guys aren't poo!" and then a 'fan' will just say, 'Yeah we know no need to remind us"...

Olsen had over 1100 yards that season making the PB, Stewart had close to 1100 total yards also going to the PB. He had Kalil at C who went to the PB, Trai Turner at RG who also went to the PB, and Michael Oher at LT who played well enough that the Panthers offered him a new contract the following year. I wouldn't call that a trash OL. He also played with a defense that was stacked with talent as well.   "The thing we are doing better this time around is actually surrounding our #1 overall draft pick QB with talent vs. asking him to completely carry the offense. I just hope that effort is leading us to realize that the guy isn't even good enough to get carried." Please.... Did you not read the list of names Newton had to work with his rookie season. Steve Smith (PB), Greg Olsen (PB), Brandon LaFell, Ted Ginn JR, Deangelo Williams (PB), Jonathan Stewart (PB), Jordan Grossn (PB), Ryan Kalil (PB) on the offensive side and then he had Luke Kuechly (PB), Jon Beason (PB), Thomas Davis (PB), Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short ( PB ),Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy (PB ), Mike Mitchell, Josh Norman (PB)  For comparison, here is who Young had his first year.  Chuba Hubbard, DJ Chark, Jonathan Mingo, Adam Thielen, Hayden Hurst, Ikem Ekwonu, Chandler Zavala, Bradley Bozeman, Nash Jensen and Taylor Morton. Not a single PB player on the list and most of them aren't even playing any longer. Additionally, his HC was fired during the season and the defense was as bad as the offense.  You might not like the comparison but saying Newton had to completely carry the offense isn't exactly fair to the 4 pro bowlers on offense who played with him that year.

      That's why I say we have to keep looking. Even if you believe Bryce is the guy, KP and Grier are not and who knows if King is anything more than a gimmick player, we should be active in improving our 2nd QB spot. Season ending injuries happen, and you don't just want to roll over and give it up. How many starters have we seen come from the ranks of backup? Having 2 potential starting QBs is one of the best problems we could have.
