How well has ol' Norvs team done, since LT and Turner have left?

Never had a losing record.....and have had some injury to key spots/players during those years. OL issues, Gates, Jackson etc....and still the worst they do is .500.

Pretty sure we have had 2 back to back...

So....

every player wants a raise when they sign a new contract

yep...just like any other employee.

but...sometimes it actually is what it is, in this case a statement that he likes being here might actually mean just that.

i know it's a shocker, but it just might be the truth.

Good, I was concerned he would want to move on when his contract expired so he could have a chance to be the primary HB somewhere else... now we just need to show him the money, but him wanting to stay is significant.

DeAngelo will restructure to make room for JStew if need be, Hurney got dis.

more people have said that they liked being here and actually stayed.

it's just a factoid of the NFL.

And most have been paid on the high end or flat out overpaid pending they were at least good.

It's just a factoid of Carolina.

Why is DeAngelo going to restricture a deal he just inked?

DeAngelo isn't going to do anything right now that means less money for him...

To do what's best for the team and deals can be restructured to free up cap without him losing any money, it's just a question of when he gets the money.

Yeah, but that doesn't happen....not the way you paint it. Why not ask Beason to restructure his deal he just signed for Stewart....or Smitty.....or Johnson. They will all say nope. These guys have a short window to make money. Players on the backside of careers will do stuff for rings.....but they already had there big paydays.

DeAngelo worked his entire life for that deal he just signed. He wants to take care of his family and set his kids up. You gonna take a paycut so your company can pay someone.....when others can do that persons job?

    • Sound write-up MHS, as always.  Agree that the smart move that forward thinking franchises make would be drafting a tackle early, if not for sure in R1, depending on who's there. Based on early predictions we're choosing between Fano and Proctor. No brainer here...Fano all day. Proctor does not move the needle for me. In my mind, Icky has less future here than Brooks does. I love Icky, but he has been average as a top-10 pick, one good year where you saw the potential...and that was this year. He's built like a RT and his strengths are there, but he's always played left. I also feel like part of what has held him back from being elite, was his work ethic. He was known for it coming out, but feel like he fell right at home in Carolina and maybe didn't push himself as hard as he needed to. Throw in a major crucial injury that will take time to recover and a historical low return rate to current form, and the outlook is not great. Fano can play both sides and we need to also plan for Moton's departure. Either way, delaying drafting a tackle early this year will hurt us down the line. Our current OL is overpriced and needs to start adding draftees to start balancing out the inevitable changes coming in the next 2-3 years.  As others have said, maybe Icky can replace Hunt or Lewis in a couple years when he's fully recovered....IDK. Also not a guarantee, but then you have to figure out his contract and it becomes even more clouded.
    • It's past time to just eliminate it in terms of an event. Just do the voting, name the roster, and move on. When you get down to 6th and 7th alternates it's just absurd. It doesn't mean anything.
