Your looking at it wrong, teams overpay players all the time because they have to. Is Beason worth 10 million a year, when we have a rookie gunning for his position and may end up being better than him? After a 2-14 season any player we signed, whether it be our own or someone else we were going to overpay for someone to attract them us.

If we overpay anyone and it has no ill effect on the cap or roster management then as I said earlier its Jerry's money going to waste, nobody else's.

What positions do you want to upgrade that you think we can't with that 8.8 million we have available?

Also can you imagine if Stewart went down with injury last year, having Goodson being our feature back?

Beason plays every down when healthy....so does Charles Johnson.....do will Cam. DeAngelo was healthy and didn't play half.

We have tons of holes and weak depth on this roster.... I could give countless examples of where we could improve positions. DE, DT, CB, S, WR, OL.....all need to be improved. Pick one or two.

Cam plus any RB is going to give us a solid ground attack....it just would be traditional (which we weren't with a healthy squad)

. How is Deangelo's contract stopping us from addressing these holes? We have 9 million in unused cap space right now with his contract.

And we could have even more to use.....

9 mill isn't going to close to allowing us to address all the holes. RB isn't an important position in today's NFL.....Charles Johnson going down screws us being ago weak..... So does Gamble.....so does Smith

D. Williams, isn't used as a bell cow (thankfully, and no fault of his), so therefore

we shouldn't have paid for his talent, cause he's overpaid cause the team doesn't ride their backs into the ground. sound logic.

Yeah, building a RB by committee and paying them like featured RBs is sound logic.....in a passing league.

Name me a player that we could have, realistically would have targeted in free agency that we couldnt sign because of Deangelo's contract. I only ask that this player have more of a positive impact than Deangelo has on our team. Can you do that CRA??

As I said, not about one specific player.....depth has been non existent.

maybe we would have brought in the Ron Edwards of CBs of Ss or another DT. Being better there would have helped the team.....offense wasnt an issue. D is.

But yeah J. Joseph would have made us a better team than Williams. Offense was fine. Captain wasnt.

Not about how great Williams is....about what we have and what we don't.

Hindsight already shows we overpaid. Paid feature RB money on a guy who accounted for about 1/3 of our rushing production while healthy.

You can't have hindsight until after the fact. If Stewart got hurt week 1 and Williams rushed for 1300 yards this year, then this whole overpaid issue disappears. Will it happen?? Who knows.......................

Yes, and it's guaranteed to count against the cap, pro-rated or not.

But the point is that the guaranteed money doesn't impact our ability to sign other players since it can be paid out and manipulated a number of ways. That was the point of the discussion.
