Jeff Otah traded to the Jets

I don't understand those complaining about what we are getting for Otah.

No one, no matter how optimistic they are by nature, could have expected Otah to get significant time on the field this year. And if all of us know it, you think other teams don't?

We are lucky to get anything for him.

Problem is some people are digesting it wrong. They are looking at it as us trading a first round pick for a 4th round pick.

Otah wore out his welcome here and would have likely walked for nothing next year. Its not hard to envision Murphy having more value to us at this point then Otah did.

Why do I feel like Rex Ryan is about to turn this joker into a pro bowler??? Anybody else have an eerie feeling that he's gonna ball out up there? Man I hope not.... That would truly be a shame!

If it leads to a high pick in return, that's cool with me.

Yeah, but it sucks that he's probably going to go out and become a pro bowler for them. We spent a 1st rounder plus to get him and gave him up for almost nothing.

Too bad we didn't have the Wizard of Oz here in NC for him.

We traded Jenkins to them and he was good for a year or two but we still got the best of the deal. It isn't whether Otah will be a pro-bowler there but would he be one here. And the answer was sadly, no. What he does there has nothing to do with what he would have been here.

Some of You guys don't get this do you???

Think as if you're a JET fan for 2 seconds... You just traded a 6th or 7th round draft pick (peanuts)

For a former 1st Rndr (filet)

He has far greater Upside than a 6th or 7th rndr...

Potential to get that tough Jet love... And make a BIG difference right away

btw... He's only gonna make $1,076,250 this year (Cheap)

From our perspective as fans: we got rid of a lazy headache that CAN BE* elite at his position when motivated

From FO perspective: (they know him way better) they got something for him assuming that ge's done... If proven wrong, it could result in a black eye...

We shall see how it plays out, but u don't like that we didn't make the Jets give us at least a 4th minimum... Although a 3rd could have definitely been gotten. They're desperate for a RT and they just got one for peanuts...

Not even a year or two it was like 12 good games...and sidelines and locker room division the rest of the time...not sure why more dont applaude the timing of that trade.

Undisclosed picks are usually later round picks bro... We gave up a 1st to get him...

He wasn't an overall bust either as some of you have declared..

He was a big part of DeAngelo and J-Stew's dual 1,000 yd rushing season...

I think most likely this trade tells us that the coaching staff had already given up on Otah and decided to move on and we simply took what we could get. Something is better than nothing.

Otah: Good talent- no work ethic- traded

Clausen: No talent- good work ethic- still here.....

Can I show up at camp? I work hard and, at 56, my talent level may be somewhat diminished.....

To be fair, I think it is safe to say that there likely isn't a big market out there for The Jimmy.

This Murphy guy just became a 1st round draft pick essentially then... I sure as hell hope that he can come in and pull a Victor Cruz/Miles Austin...

Knee jerk reaction for trades today:

WR---- sounds great

Otah--- got robbed by Jesus and Foot fetish

Add them together and you get.... Well we'll just have to wait and see how this pans out... For fugs sake though... Please work out in our favor!

Did you ever take an econ class? Do you understand the concept of a "sunk cost"? That's what that former 1st round pick we used on Otah is - a sunk cost. You can't factor in sunk costs on future decisions. It's just bad business.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
