Time to confess about the 2011 draft

I wanted Luck from the start just to be honest. But once I found out he pulled out my attention shifted towards Cam. Cam got a lot of hate from must talking heads but I said to myself, friends, and family that he would be a star in Carolina. After a long three month process of breaking his film down I was right for the most part. He has a lot of time to get even better for this upcoming year. Most people are sleeping on the Panthers and think Cam good rookie campaign was a fluke. This is the year to shut those people up for good.

How awesome is it that we have this thread? So awesome we finally have a mega-star! I just watched some of the 2nd Falcons game from last season...he made so many great throws that you don't see on highlight reels. THIS GUY IS THE REAL FREAKING DEAL

"dareus and green poo all over newton on a pure value basis"

(watching auburn/oregon national title game) "i can't believe people want to spend a first round pick on this guy"

(in response to someone arguing for newton who sarcastically referred to luck as the messiah) "you know, you don't have to keep calling andrew luck 'jesus christ'. 'the guy who will be a better NFL quarterback than cam newton' works just fine"

-actual stupid poo i posted on this board last year

I wasn't die-hard on any bandwagon, not even Luck's (I have a strong distaste for media-sanctioned players.) When I learned that Carolina might actually do the most out of character thing ever and draft a high-risk/high-reward player, I was definitely onboard, just for the novelty factor. But I thought it would be five or six years before he played at the level he played at last year!

I wanted Newton. Doesn't mean I was sold on him. In fact, I wasn't sure he'd be a good quarterback at all. But know we might as well take the risk if our coaching staff believed that his character concerns were just media blown up (which I did always believe was the case - the only questions I had were his skills as a quarterback) because we needed a quarterback and I had already scratched off Gabbert because if you actually watched him at Mizzou rather than read scouting reports, you could tell he sucked.

I wouldn't have been mad if we didn't pick Cam though. But the only other guy I really liked for #1 overall was Dareus.
