Amini Silatolu?

Honestly, Amini and the entire Oline were pretty awful the first couple of drives. Amini was particularly bad at picking up blitzes and stunts and one play in particular he dove inside on a switch and let his tackle and a linebacker shoot through untouched to his left. Bell whiffed horribly on a few speed rushes by the end, as well. Overall the Oline played better the longer they were on the field but those first couple of drives were far from anything resembling "good".

Hes not smart, and moved to a different position, came from a D2 school how the fug you think he's doing?

Well that's just not nice.

He's done very well for a rookie, he struggled some as I pointed out, but as a whole his preseason performance has been more than solid.

Gonna have to disagree with you here. Our Oline should be one of the best in the league. We have one of the best centers and LTs in the game, a highly regarded draft prospect at LG, and 2 solid hard workers on the right side.

Amini didn't look terrible once he got a block, but him and kalil were not on the same page at the start of the game. A few too many guys got into the backfield without even being touched. Once again though, when everyone was blocking the correct guy, they looked really good. If everyone is on the same page and we work out these kinks our blocking should be top notch.

There is work that needs to be done but I was impressed with the way the minimized pressure on Cam from the Jets blitzing D. I'm impressed with our O-line this year in the passing game, and think that we/they will be better than last years o-line. I'm not to sure on the running game yet. I think our O-line is more so built for pass protection.

Yep I thought they did well in pass protection all things considering. I think at times Cam held on to the ball too long (for whatever reason, WRs not getting open...) which allowed the pressure to get to him. I know it's the Jets but they didn't create a lot of holes in the running game last night.

Yeah, I thought they did well, especially against the Jets defense but I'm not sure about the run blocking yet...

Seems with the Amini pick we going for a highly mobile offensive line. Less road graters, but better personnel for screens, pitches, misdirection and pulls. Even if wharton played better, he didn't fit in with what we were doing on offense. Amini and Campbell are perfect for this type of line however.

Although he did indeed look solid for a rookie, this thread's pretty boring if we're just going to ignore the pooload of mistakes he made yesterday. People in the chat wouldn't stop crying about the pass protection whenever Cam got pressured. When they would show a replay we would see Amini allowing a defender to walk into our backfield for free before Amini could find someone to block. Those tricky blitz packages they ran really confused the hell outta Amini.

Whenever our pass protection looked bad though, people in the chat would say "c'mon o-line", "o-line looking like ass today", or "the o-line sucks" as if the bad protection wasn't the fault of one or two individuals. He didn't look god awful, that's not what I'm saying, but you could definitely see his lack of experience. I hope he's ready to go by the start of the season because....well...he's our only answer at LG.

Agree ... great post. The same is true for previous games but his lack of experience was clearly evident during this game.

The upside is he looked great pulling to support the run game. He is very mobile and agile for a big man. Downside is that he needs to be more patient and execute his assignments. He tends to chase someone to block thus leaving a hole for the defense to exploit. At times, it appears the defenders make contact with him while blowing through the hole but he continues doubling with Kalil or Gross and does not adjust. The coaches will work with him and it'll get fixed. In the meantime, D Coordinators will run schemes to exploit it.

Because the O-line didn't play well in the run or the pass? Cam was hurried all game in passing situations. Most of that is due to playing a good defense.

I saw the defense bursting through on running downs immediately, not so much on passing downs. They got hurries, but not like what they were able to acomplish when we ran the ball.

so a few might be upset about an isolated incident with the protection here and there. I know the dumbasses on ESPN radio, David Glen in particular, seems to think there is an issue.

I say to the opposing defensive coordinators on the schedule... just keep bringing that rush. Keep sending the house.

We'll see you in the f-cking endzone.

    • Brother re-check that guarantee...my page shows 30mill.....thats means he's staying in my book for at least til the end of 2026.  Im going to be my normal honest self, besides watching like half of the SB, I didn't know the guy. My guess is Panthers have a "planned model of paying players" and they almost had to spend a chunk of space on a DLman after Dbrown injury season gave them a nightmare out-come of worst D in NFL scoring. Once Milton got above Dbrown payments, they went with the plan B. A player whom the "co-GM" put his name with. Brad said turk would not be a problem off-field and leader, which the Panthers need badly. I dug in with the google-fu, I found out  I also found him playing lots of NT, which was shocking given the small frame. He seems ready for a bigger role and had a great SB too. IDK, I feel Dan Morgan was dead set on not going into this season without more DL depth and its there. The real deal is this, nearly all FA take one year to "adjust". I think turk is trying too hard and causing injuries as a result for his contract. Dbrown called turk "strong as hell" and I know for a fact Dbrowns has insane core and strength numbers. They lift together with the 50 LB difference...... you always lift with a guy who's similar in strength cause you can leave on the 8 wheels, let the other guy lift while you rest and go after him.  I do wish he had a better beginning to his panther career, 3 games for him to do so and it would cover up the low points if he made a few plays.... Again it felt like they almost had to make move/spend $$$ and Morgan was going to have DL depth this season no matter what...My best guess.
    • There's a reason DC wasn't getting calls to be a HC. He wasn't ready. His indecisiveness is infuriating. His lack of awareness is mystifying. He jumped at the chance to grab the David Tepper retirement plan and who can really blame him. Maybe with time he can grow into the job. But we're on year 8 of our 7 year rebuild. I think I'm gonna need a hip replacement before we get a decent HC.
