Kealoha Pilares

I don't know whats up with the guy. I haven't been overly impressed by him. He doesn't really seem fast, but he doesn't really seem that slow either.

Oh, he's fast alright. Point in case, the ko return for TD by the Texans. While he didn't quite get there, he damn near caught the returner (name?) from all the way across the field. And this nameless guy on the Texans has track and field speed. Pilares is definitely one of the faster guys on the roster.

He is better as a receiver than kickoff returner. Although he sometimes has some big returns, he usually takes it out when he shouldn't and gets tackled at the 15.

I assume you are referring to this preseason. He has probably been told to do this. Last year, if anything, he was too conservative about bringing kicks out of the endzone.

I see him as a legit slot guy who solidifies the WR corps.

I do too. He has caught everything thrown at him, and he has some good quicks in the open field.. He should get more opportunities as the year goes on.

He has been getting an increasing role on kick and punt returns as a gunner as well, so he's a valuable part of the team.

Outside of kickoff returns where he has some skill if not the best decision making ability, I see Pilares filling a role for use similar to what Lance Moore was for the Saints** last season. He'll be a #4 wideout behind Smitty, Lafell and Muphy (As Moore was behind Colston, Meachem and Henderson) who plays in the slot, catches balls underneath, and has a great YAC. I see him putting up 500 yards and 3 TDs next season.

This is without Gettis being activated that is. Once that happens, I think Pilares falls to the #5 and maybe only ends up with 200 yards and 1 TD. Either way, he has a certain elusiveness that will benefit us.

He's nothing special, but his skillset could be very useful in Chud's offense. The catches he has made seen to be quick hits and he just accelerates for pretty good YAC. The poster who hinted at Lance Moore lite threw out the best case scenario that he could become. This coaching staff doesn't seem as enamoured with Gettis as the Huddle is, so if Gettis comes off the PUP to the active roster, that's not necessarily damning of Pilares' depth spot if he performs anywhere near decent this season.

i've never really got the love for this guy. sure...i want him to be successful because of his uni, but beyond that and that one kick return i've never been all that impressed or excited about him. i hate to throw out the JAG name...but that's all i really see.

now joe adams...that kid gets me excited. pilares...ehhh. i just see him as average at best. gets a roster spot because he's ok at KRs.
