Chud overrated

Said it all off season as people went on and on....bulk of that last year was just Cam and some plays brought in by Norv's son.

Chud's gameplan was every bit as pathetic as our D.

We have DeAngelo Williams and he has ZERO traditional runs. ZERO. You didn't use him in that zone read junk all season last year for a reason. Williams lines up and takes it to teams if you give hima chance. Horrible. Putting Cam in Shotgun ALL HALF is letting the Bucs T off on our OL and QB. Horrible. Horrible.

I just hurt my eyes they rolled so hard in my head.

They should roll when people overhype him....

2 DWill runs in the read option both for a loss......that is how Chud uses one of our best weapons. a player that has historically lined up and abused them when actually given a chance.

people forget Chud's whacked gameplans early last season as well....

We had a top ten offence. To judge a coach based on one half is silly.

He was a big reason for our success last year. As football outsiders put it:

A much bigger concern is whether Newton can actually build on his success. Chudzinski did a brilliant job of tailoring his system to Carolina’s personnel. That personnel has now fractured a bit. No. 1 tight end Greg Olsen is back, but his running mate, Jeremy Shockey is not. Unless fifth-year backup Gary Barnidge can suddenly become a flexible receiving weapon, Chudzinski will have to drift away from the dual-tight end sets that defined his offense last season.

With a two-tight end approach, Carolina’s offense had an inherent unpredictability to it. The Panthers could always line up in a balanced set with a receiver and tight end on each side of the field. Or, without changing personnel, they could flex into a spread formation. That would stretch a base defense wide, leaving no help for whatever linebacker was matched up on Olsen or Shockey. There were a host of other formation variations in between these two, many of them involving a shotgun. What made this flexibility really potent was the fact that Carolina was great at running out of the shotgun.

Credit Chudzinski for building an unconventional ground game. By going shotgun, he compelled defenses to treat Newton as a run and pass threat on every down. That gave defenders an extra set of thoughts to process on each play. Chudzinski gave teeth to this by actually making good on the threat of Newton running. At 244 pounds, Newton, unlike the faster-but-far-more-fragile Michael Vick, has the strength to absorb hits and finish runs. He also has an innate sense for using his elusiveness to minimize the impact of the blows he takes. Also, Chudzinski placed an added mental burden on defenders by featuring counters and misdirections in the ground game and play-action. It helped that the Panthers had a pair of upper echelon running backs in DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Both are fundamentally sound all-around runners with the quickness and bendiness to create their own space after receiving the ball from a standstill position.

Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
