Observations from inside the stadium

Soo much to like about this game.

First and foremost Godfrey played his ass off today. That pick 6 was a game changer and got the crowd involved in a big way from then on. He also knocked the absolute poo outta Graham in the 4th, sending him to the sideline.

Props to the section on the away side on the 30 yard line...they refused to participate in the wave, but the section by the panthers tunnel was so persistent they got it to go the other direction.

Cam Newton is so awesome for the fans. When we took the lead, his enthusiasm in the end zone jumping up and down and waving his hands and acknowledging the crowd was priceless.

The crowd was awesome today and my section 127 nearly stood up the entire game without 1 complaint.

We truly had homefield advantage today with the D being electrified by the crowd.

I hate the over usage of this word but Thursday Nights atmosphere should be epic.

So nice to see Beason seal the win with the final interception today.

Deangelo still has that home run ability and I am glad we have him regardless of CRA's vendetta against him.

Gamble showed why he was the man again in that pass deflection to force 4th down for the Saints* in the 4th.

By the games end you could tell we totally demoralized the Saints* Defense.

The trick play on the Lafell reverse was a thing of beauty.

Saints* fans behind me were good sports and were genuinely fun to go back and forth with all game.

Met the tight end coach's wife, she was a sweetheart

How was the Beason interception reaction? Was everyone leaving or inside escaping the rain?

If it was raining at that point I did not notice. The true fans were still there and it was freaking awesome. More high fives today and fist bumps were thrown around today than I have seen this the 08 Tampa Stomping on Monday night.

By the time Beason INT rolled around, the sun was making its way out from behind the clouds and about half the stadium was empty.

Everyone, Panthers and Saints* fans included, assumed the game was in hand after the late 4th down stop when the stadium's noise level was at its peak.

I wouldn't say that HALF the staduim was empty at this point. Me and my friends were impressed by how many ppl were still in their seats when the clock ran out. The fans were as great as the players today.

    • If we don't go OT, we will regret it.  What bothers me?  Are we going to get a starting-caliber OT at 19?  I think the draft is solid at OT, and the more I read up and watch video, the more I watch Lomu, the more I want him.   I see Freeling as a RT who needs some work in run blocking (since we need to run first, maybe not a good fit) and I see Proctor ending up as a Guard.  After Lomu (assuming Mouigia and fanu are gone), I think we wait until round 2.  In round 2, there are about 3-4 I like (Zuhn--good pass blocker and VERY underrated right now; Tiernan is a very good pass blocker as is Miller from Clemson, but both are not good in the run game.  Max Ixxxxx from Ariz St is impressive too---technically, there is not a of difference in these second tier guys--good in pass pro, need work in the run game.   If we wait until round 2 for an OT, we probably need to sign Nijman and start him early.   I almost think this is what we should do if Lomu is gone.  There is a big dropoff after him, imo, and I think we'd get better value if a stud ILB or edge is there.  Someone like TJ Parker Clemson makes sense. If Lomu is gone, trading back might be the play.
    • And what is x gunna help with except show him what not to do. Plus for the first year and a half he was just an obstacle
    • I understand that some people want WR. I am solidly against using yet another high pick there. Coker is pretty good and we used No picks on him.  What I think we really need at WR is a little bit of a Smitty lite. It is ridiculous to say let’s get a Smitty because you just can’t do that, but someone not tall and long striding but more in his mold. I think we’d have a pretty well rounded group.    Looking at tackle, with replacing Moton looming, it just seems like the no brainer.  You fill in Icky short term. Depending on how he recovers, and how the new guy plays, you go from there. A tackle at 19 is most likely either a LOT, a ROT, or a big talented guard, at worst. We will need all three in the next couple of years.  I would love to have a stud ILB be there at 19 but the OL is the responsible thing to do I believe.
