Tom Coughlin has harsh words for Greg Schiano

Coughlin started out with a couple of choice words, then came back to give Schiano, who's in his first season as an NFL coach after a successful tenure at Rutgers, a brief education in League Etiquette 101.

"I don't think you do that," Coughlin told the media after the game, per Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. "You don't do that in this league. Not only that, you jeopardize the offensive line, you jeopardize the quarterback. Thank goodness we didn't get anybody hurt — that I know of. A couple of linemen were late getting in."

Schiano was unmoved. "I don't know if that's not something that's done in the National Football League,'' he said. "What I do with our football team is that we fight until they tell us, 'game over.' And there's nothing dirty about it, there's nothing illegal about it. We crowd the ball like a sneak defense and try to knock it loose.

"If people watched Rutgers, they would know that's what we do at the end of a game. We're not going to quit, that's just the way I coach and teach our players. If some people are upset about it, that's just the way it goes. I don't have any hesitation. That's the way we play. We play clean, hard football until they tell us the game is over.'"

Most likely, that's what Coughlin was telling Schiano: You're not coaching at Rutgers anymore.

how exactly did they "hotdog it"? they had just picked off Freeman for the win, they ended their game pretty much exactly how our game ended...did we hotdog it by taking a knee?

edit, also he wasn't above having his team taking a knee to run out 2 minutes last week against us

I'm glad someone else mentioned this, that was some pansy ass football.

As for the thread at hand, I agree with Coughlin. But I also don't like the Bucs soooo yeah.

Seems like a lot of the media agrees with Coughlin and many fans agree with the Bucs.

Is playing all 60 minutes as hard as you can and within the rules somehow wrong now?

In my opinion, the next team doing this against the Bucs should have their OL go for the TB defensive linemen's knees at the snap.

Many of you seem to agree with Schiano that it should be required that the Victory Formation be played all-out.

OK... against TB go all out then. And when McCoy or whoever on the Buc DL gets their knees blown-out for a useless play, that's the price to be paid for going "all out".

      I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.

      We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
