Ok this just dawned on me...

Gross is certainly on the down-slide of his career, I agree, but I don't think we are in a position to let him go before he retires.

Alexander may be better, but what can we get for Johnson that would make the trade worth it (not sure on the details of that contract, either).

What are you basing the Smith trade on? He's our one true veteran receiver and he's easily the most consistent in terms of getting open, even if he is dropping more balls than usual? Him staying around hasn't been Hurney magic. It's just been a matter of him being our best WR and that hasn't changed from what I can tell.

Smith checked out 3 weeks ago mentally.

He is done.

He is undersized, underutilized and underappreciated.

Nevertheless, get what u can for him from Miami or Texas and wish him the best.

WE NEED PLAYERS.

Not hard to be man-handled when you're dealing with a heavy pass rush all game. That poo wears you down as a lineman. Run blocking is much less tiring, because you're actually attacking a player and dictating where he goes with your body rather than being on your heels and trying to figure out where he's going. I've watched Gross a fair amount. He's not played as bad as you guys are making him out to be. Most of the sacks have been up the middle. Gross has dealt with Amini, as JOAT said. If you can't see that, then you don't know what goes into blocking schemes and mechanics.

No, but he's still a good LT who had to put up with a rookie LG rather than the guy he's had a lot of chemistry and experience.

I'd say he's still top 10.

You got that one right. Folks tend to forget who is next to Gross this year. Their frustration is in overdrive. So every player, coach, FO personel, and even the water boy are fair game so to speak.

Getting harder every day to have a decent discussion around here. The frustration and hate are overwhelming.

Overblown. I make it a point to watch Gross on at least one or two drives a game. The turnstile talk is due to Amini, really. Teams know he's weak, so they're blitzing his outside gap, causing Gross to pick a man to block.

Just one more example of Hurney's team building being totally out of sync with the offense Chud wants to run. We draft a big road grader in the 2nd round whose athleticism allows him to pull, and then we ask him to sit back and play a finesse game pass blocking all day.

That is the crux of the problem. Our offense has no identity. Everyone seems to be in a funk and there seems to be no direction.

Fix the O and we can get back on track. Both on the field, and here on the Huddle.
