Champ Bailey: Cam Newton is a bigger Michael Vick

Cams got a long way to go accuracy wise to be anything close to Ben.

Big Ben could throw the short dink and dunk.....that really is all Cam glaringly is off on. Young Big Ben that can run.

And it isn't about systems or what they were asked to do.....of course that is different. It is about how they play

In reality, Vick and Newton have very little in common.

Newton bears way more similarity as a QB to Brett Favre or John Elway.

If you want a better version of Vick, look in DC.

I think most on here are too young to have seen John Elway in his youth, but yes, Cam's abilities and style of play have always reminded me of a young Elway.

That's not to say they will have a similar career path. It's just too early. Cam may surpass anything Elway ever did, or he may fall woefully short, but so far they look like similar players.

Anyone who compares Cam to Vick losses lots of credibility in my mind.

Pretty much!

he plays nothing like Ben tho besides shedding defenders. young cam > younger big ben IMO Cam reminds me now of a 2010 Vick

RG3 reminds me more of Brees wit Vicks durability and Luck is like a bigger ARod

The favre comparison might hold weight remember Brett loves cam yall remember the interview with Deion Sanders this year? he said he'll take him over any young QB in the game..he maybe sees some of himself in Killa Cam.

I have no idea how young Elway looked lol ima youngin

While I wouldn't want to build a team around Vick, Cam has a long way to go to be as good as Vick in his prime.

exactly fug a hater if young killa cam plays anywhere close to young Vick or a 2010 Vick wit his arm & will to win/be one of the greats we'll be in a great position.

how can anyone hate on the comparison when he gave us and the entire league fits Vick was a problem and he ain't the problem now in Philly but that's another story.

Bens had the best football organization in the world around him. We all hope That our organization can be half of that round Cam. Only thing Cams got to work on to be a better version of Ben is accuracy. He does that, easily top 10 QB in the league. Possibly top 5. But it's obvious he has to work on that.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
