Dwayne Jarrett

Jake Delhomme thinks that Dwayne Jarrett can take a third-year leap just like DeAngelo Williams did last season.

Jarrett has just 16 career grabs for 192 yards (12.0 YPC) and no scores, but has not been an obvious liability when he has played. That makes us wonder if John Fox has been up to his old game of playing longtime vets over youngsters. We'll see if Jarrett can give Mushin Muhammad a push in August.

I sure hope he isn't just another keyshawn

I dunno I could live with 850 yards a year from our third guy/
true...and i think we could have another keyshawn on our hands...i don't think we have another meshawn, though.

you watch clips of catches that key made and look at the ones that jarrett made last year and there is similarities. if fox & smitty hadn't squashed jarrett in their own ways his rookie year i think he could have been another meshawn.

i think his head is in the right place now and we are going to be seeing a lot more form him. i think jake is going to have a lot of reason and time to get familiar with him that he couldn't last year because jarrett and hackett were trading WR3 back and forth all season. that may very well raise him to above 50 catches and 4 or 5 TDs. maybe more...who knows. i just know we have only seen the very tiniest tip of the ice burg from him.

He's still got time to develop. I know there's some rookies that come into the league when Jarrett did who're 27 this year, but he'll be 23 in september and he's starting his third year. I forsee a marked improvement, more third down grabs and some red zone touches, Moose is still a great receiver, considering how well he did last year there's no reason to supplant him for Jarrett.

Don't worry about Dwayne, he'll be fine.

It's muhammad's route running and run blocking that keeps him on the field.

Really i think Jarrett has better hands and can go up top just like moose used to.

The decision is all up to fox but Jarrett really needs to be used better, if we have a threat we should let other teams know about him.

All the fantasy geeks have DJ on their radar because he is a 3rd year WR and Moose is getting up there in age. Panther fans know better than to expect big time numbers this year from DJ. If he does get bigtime numbers its probably not a good sign because either

a) Smitty or Moose is hurt

B) Our run game is ineffective

c) We are down bigtme and have to throw

or D) all of the above.

Jarrett has a good chance to be a complete player because Fox was willing to sit him and guys like Smitty told it like it was. He neded to hear that so he won't become the next Mike Williams.

Hopefuly he was paying attention

Yeah, but Keyshawn was our No. 2 receiver. I don't know that our third receiver in our current offense is ever going to have anything close to 850 yards.

With Keyshawn on the roster in 2006, our No. 3 receiver, Carter, had 357 yards receiving, and we didn't have nearly the running attack we had last year.

How about Moose ends up with about 780 yards and DJ ends up with about 550 yards receiving. I wonder if DJ shows up well in camp and Preseason if we would run more three sets as the run game can still work from a 3 wr set with our oline and WR blocking being as good as they are.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
