Just totaled my car.

So I was coming home, from dropping my daughter off at her school, traveling north on Hwy 17, which is a four lane divided highway, when some woman decided to make a left turn, to cross the highway, without looking. I couldn't avoid hitting her and collided pretty much with her rear passenger side tire, spinning her into a street sign and completely smashing in the front of my car.

My car is completely totaled and her car was pretty fuged up. She had her three month old baby girl in the backseat. Luckily both her and her child were ok.

I didn't want to go to in an ambulance from the scene, but I do have some back issues already and my back is already starting to hurt pretty bad. So I'm going to go to the doctor shortly. This is the only accident that I've ever had, involving another vehicle. Is there anything that I need to know, regarding medical care, to make sure that I'm compensated - you know, to avoid problems.

Sorry to hear it man. People drive like retards. How can you make a left turn and not look? poo, I look twice both ways.

Glad no one was hurt serious.

Go straight to the Dr and tell them what happened... get copies of your records and keep them.

Don't take any poo from her insurance company and make them get you a rental car ASAP... like today.

Do not sign ANYTHING until you have all of the money from her Ins Co.

Dont cash any check the give you until you have it all. I had an adjuster give me a check "for my car" one time only for the Ins Co to claim that it was the total settlement and since I cashed it that was deemed as me accepting their final settlement.

document everything muy pronto and go ahead and go to the doc TODAY if you haven't already.

expect the two insurance companies to play the blame game and each try to stonewall the other. just stay in constant contact with your adjuster and keep good notes on each convo.

don't pull a lawyer into this unless you think one or both ins companies are giving you the shaft.
