Real reason we suck....more evidence

We quite possibly have the worst coaching staff to ever be fielded in the NFL.

I'd question Rivera's ability to win big time HS games, much less college or NFL.

THIS.

Chud and McD have their pros and cons.....Rivera just isn't a HC and that kills us.

100% Agreed.

The coaching kills us all the time it's our main issue. Players will make mistakes and Hurney didn't help but the coaching doesn't even give us a chance to play respectfully. Easily the biggest problem. People say we are inproving but we are on pace for a worse record this year and frankly, I don't see coaching improving, and it shouldn't be hard to improve coaching aspects from last year.

You can blame coaching all you want. But too many players on this team make too many unforced errors. False starts. 12 men on the field. Encroachment. Personal fouls. Dropping perfect passes. These are professional athletes who know they're not supposed to make these mistakes--especially in December.

Pretty sure dumb penalties is yet another thing pointing to..... poor coaching.

I skimmed through this thread so im sorry if someone already brought this up, but honestly if Lafell didn't drop that pass around the ten yard line that landed in his lap, i think Carolina wins this game. Also, whats up with all the shoving going on in Ravens/Steelers game that refs dive in the middle of, but one shove from a panther to a chief and unsportsmanlike conduct gets called. That's some bs.

So does this game, unofficially, make us the worst team in the league?

It's as official as it gets actually.

Dwan Edwards was the only man holding the defense together(which is sad in its own right)

Chud and the Oline injuries have crippled the offense.

Hurney crippled the depth(for years to come mind you) with his appalling trades and moronic draft picks.

Only thing that can save us from a few more years of rebuilding is to actually do something good in FA(which will be hard to do b/c of Hurney yet again), have an epicly good draft, and hire a coaching staff that is really good.

GL with that....I guess.

Newton being his so called own play action isn't the same.....and the lack of run game also has hurt us moving the chains and keeping the O on the field (which is why our TDs are down yet Cam plays almost identical as last year). Little help on the year moving chains.....less TDs. Cam is the same.

Not a talent issue. Coaching issue. Most glaring and consistant one. There are others....like Rivera coaching scared and safe late. It all goes to coaching.

Who's saying its a talent issue? The running has been a problem. But the title of leading rusher is moot as long as we had a overall good rushing game.

Coaching. Chud and Ron.

12 games in.

Carolina RBs have lead the team in rushing in a pathetic 5 games.

Some perspective on how pathetic that is.....

Even when Mike Vick set a NFL record and went for 1000 rushing yards a RB lead his team in rushing in 7 of those first 12 (more than half). Cam isn't on pace nor trying to do something crazy on the ground.....sad, really sad. We give Cam less help than any QB in the NFL on the ground and we have completely controlled and done that to ourselves

That limits Cam and our D. Fug those guys and there lazy 2012 "Well we have Cam mindset, he can do it all and we don't need to help".

I agree with everything except the part about Cam not doing anythjng special on the ground. He is already the first QB to rush for 500+ yards in his first two seasons.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
