How is there not one of these yet?

Anyways, just saw it finally, and I think I came a few times mid-movie. SO epic.

Totally different feel from the trilogy, a lot lighter and more comedic. But the critics have been very... critical as of yet, and it deserves more praise for sure. It's just got the curse of being compared to the other LOTR films against it.

Acting was tremendous, visuals were unbelievable.

Anyone else seen it?

Yea there is a 2D version at 24 fps. Saw the IMAX 3D 48 FPS and loved the visuals. The acting was superb as well.

As a Tolkien reader, I had some problems with a number of things, but it was still worth the watch.

I didn't like what they did with Azog either, and the Great Goblin was pretty stupid.

Riddles in the dark is just how I pictured it from the novel, and loved that scene.

Fantastic movie I've read the book many times and i didn't expect them to make the movie word for word if you did your a fuging idiot. movies and books are two very DIFFERENT forms of entertainment. it pisses me off every time someone expects a movie adaptation of a book to be word for word. many great films are overlooked because those idiots didn't agree with the directors interpretation of their so called beloved book so they trash it every chance they get. Peter jackson made another masterpiece and if you head is too far up your ass to see it then your gonna miss out on a fantastic ride.

Loved it, it does start off slow but still entertaining - the Bag End scenes are specifically for the fans I think. Once they get going the movie diverges from the book in many ways, all seem the better to me. Thought Azog was needed badly. Liked how they pushed up the timeline of Bilbo getting accepted. When Radagast was on I was "WTF!" but as that plotline went on I loved it. The last half of the movie goes by really fast.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
