Probably just speculation. No one's had any contact with Richardson. Unknown whether he's "agonizing" or just waiting to tell Rivera his fate in person.

Every single thing about that quote screams "this is not only speculation but bad speculation" to me.

Not one person at ESPN has any idea what media-phobe Jerry Richardson is thinking or if he's agonizing over anything. We also have just as much reason to believe that Rivera will be given a decision Saturday and not when a GM is hired as we do that they will wait even longer.

Richardson is moving very slowly, but that might not be a bad thing. He clearly is agonizing over the Rivera decision. That’s understandable because Richardson likes Rivera and there have been some signs he can be a successful head coach, but the results so far haven’t been spectacular.
