I never thought of him as much of a leader. More of a crazy, aloof analytical type. Like a quieter version of mike martz. That doesn't really translate into head coaching material.

His offense won 10 games with Derek Anderson in Cleveland, and he took this unit from worst to top 10 with a rookie quarterback. I wouldn't be so quick to write the guy off.

They also interviewed Mike Zimmer. BIG mistake not hiring him.

But that's good since he'll be around next year if/when we fire Rivera. Zimmer is going to make one hell of a head coach for some team some day.

if his skills as a leader transcend his skills as a playcaller and scheme designer he may be alright. I'd think his time as a TE coach would be the best insight into his in-the-trenches leadership abilities

I do think it was smart to bring Norv Turner along, though. That'll help him a lot.
