Garage conversion results...

Zod

Recommended Posts

As some of you know Mrs Zod and I are expecting a baby girl in June. This means my old home office is now the nursery, so the garage needed to be my office. I am pretty happy with the results.

Went with a mini split HVAC heat pump, keeps it nice and warm and has its own thermostat.

How does it look from outside? It was a big deal to me to not be able to tell I had converted the garage. I ripped the siding down & redid it so you couldnt see it, mad eit look like the rest of the front of the house. Now I just gotta get around to siding the back & 2 sides.....

Looks good Zod, surprised you dont have more pictures on the wall....

How much did you do vs hiring somebody? Payin JR in beers does not count as hiring somebody... But coverin the cost of Panthro's next trip to Thailand does...

I did some of it and hired out the rest. I had to have an electrician wire it because it was permitted and inspected about 6 times total (big waste of tax money). Had a brick mason put in a brick skirt on the front to match the rest of the house. Also hired a guy to do the framing and external door and windows. I did the drywall, fixtures, floor, molding, etc. So glad its over.

Yes it is a gas water heater. I put in 2 four inch vents for combustion air as required by code so that the pilot light stays lit. So far no problems.

    • Oh I get it, but even with Bryce's noodle arm, if you have a burner on the outside who is beating his man down the field with zero safety help, even Bryce can heave it 55-60 yards to him if he gets the time in the pocket, so you still need to keep a safety with an eye on those routes when he's on the field.
    • I don't know how people are still paying for them. Everyone I know sold at a loss or just walked away. I wouldn't even pay for parking if the tickets were free at this point.
    • Legette had an outstanding season his last year. That's undeniable. Considering his terrible QBs, covid disruption, and simply personal tribulations, you have to take all of that into account. You're trying to act like no one wanted him. He was over-drafted by us somewhat, but I bet that he'd have gone somewhere in the second anyway. It's easy to make all kinds of hindsight evaluations, but there was a lot---and still is---of upside with Legette. Sometimes you take big swings and miss. But, like I said, I still think it's too early to be giving up.
