So in 2011 with Cam Newton, and in 2012 with Luke Kuechly, there was a lot of angst surrounding the selection of these two players for different reasons. Well I have a guy this year that I think the Panthers should select if he is there at 14.

Bjoern Werner.

What?! Ignoring safety, wide receiver, defensive tackle, offensive line, and corner to pick a defensive end?! You bet your ass.

Though his stock has been dropping lately, this is the best pass rusher and run stopping end in the entire draft. He has no real weaknesses to his game other than average athleticism, while also possessing traits that could put him in the pro bowl for many years.

There is the real possibility we could lose Hardy next season, and this guy can bookend Charles Johnson for years with no drop off (likely improvement actually). Keep our strength a strength. Werner is a monster.

I was a table pounder last year for Kuechly, and this year I am pounding the table for this guy. He is a can't miss prospect at a highly touted position. He is a double digit sack guy that will also improve the run defense. He plays with passion and intensity and loves the game.

Maybe go with a rush end 3-4 LB that can also play DE like Mingo, now that would be controversial. lol

Ahh yes. The classic history of FSU defensive ends. This guy is a different breed. This isn't a wide 9 guy that bolts for the QB with speed, but will struggle in a traditional alignment. This is a stack and shed, convert speed to power DE. I have heard comparisons to Ryan Kerrigan, and I believe that is pretty accurate.

I know he's more of a prototypical NFL DE, it's just the only thing I had. lol

If Werner or Ansah fall, I think they have a good shot at being the pick. It's even a possibility that the team goes with someone like Mingo who can play both DE and 3-4 OLB blitz spot in those alignments when they are used.

he is a better athlete, he is bigger, stronger, and has shown several pass rush moves. more flexiable and can bend real well, the only thing is he tore the acl late into the season, but they did help each other get 1on1 match ups.

Tank Carradine is the FSU defensive end that will bust if either of them do. Werner is the better prospect. Its not close.
