tell me how in the world he managed to stay on our practice squad if he had anything worth more consideration?

all the teams in the league must be morons for not going out and snagging such potential....either that or they all see the same thing i see....a big guy who is fast. big deal. btw, how much time did cruz and austin spend on the practice squad?

if he was worth a shot, he would have had one by now. instead he's behind clods like armanti edwards and pilares.

Not sure if I trust Chud's judgement on WR lineups, same guy who kept Naannee at no.2 until he got hurt and Lafell claimed his spot. Remember when the announcers during the Denver game said Gettis was impressive in practice? Yet he only played four snaps last season.

What exactly did Austin do from 2006-2009?

He wasnt on the practice squad, he was an active player credited with starts who went from a special teams player to a receiver.

This Bryant guy, by nature of just being associated with the team, is being given a chance. They are always looking for talent. If he has it he will move up the depth chart. It's that simple. I don't want him to be given anything, he needs to take whatever he wants and show something.

I'm curious about the contract he was offered. The only way I can see him signing with another team, is if they offer him a lot more money, or something long term. The Panthers have a better coaching staff, more talented players, and are more likely to make the playoffs than the other teams. Plus, the quality of life in Charlotte is a lot better than that of Cleveland or Oakland.

How, in the hell, did the Dominik Hixon visiting thread go on for 17 pages? What hath god wrought?

You remember what our last several free agent periods were like?

I'd say the answer lies there.

This year we actually have transactions of our own to talk about rather than just discussing everyone else's. Granted, it might get a little excessive, but I'm guessing you'd agree it's better than the alternative.

That's true, but he's not really a much higher caliber player than Louis Murphy was, right? It just seems like a lot of discussion about a fourth or fifth receiver.

hixon won't be the 4th or 5th receiver. better than ginn, on par with lafell.

of course if we draft a WR early then he might drop.

I'll just say that if hixon is our 4th or 5th WR, our WR corps are in very good shape.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
