Who are your Personal over rated and Under rated prospects....

and what are you using to base your opinion?

Personally I have been using www.draftbreakdown.com for their cut up's of prospects. I only used scouting reports and prospect rankings to get a consensus of who I should look at. I studied DB'S, DT'S, AND WR'S game cut up's quite a bit. I am going to limit each list to 1 player and am curious to hear your personal opinions as well as how you formed your opinions. So there is potentially some under rated sleepers I missed because the masses did not inform me to look them over.

Over rated

Safety - Jonathan Cyprien- Limited material to see, but what I saw does not make me think first round pick.

Cornerback - Desmond Trufant. I liked at least 3 corners better than him.

DT - Shariff Floyd- He's good but to be talked about as # 1 overall or even top 5..I am missing it if it's there.

WR - Tavon Austin- I see the possiblities with him but I don't think he should be the first receiver off the board for any team, espcially not us.

Under Rated

Safety - Shamarko Thomas- I get it he's short. He does not play that way to me and seems like the most sure tackler of any safety prospect I have seen. I think he'd be a great SS on our Defense. This guy would be great playing inside the box.

Cornerback - Jonathan Banks - This guy once upon a time was rated high not sure what happened. I liked everything I saw.

DT- John Jenkins is another guy I am super high on. I love him as a nose tackle. If people keep sleeping on Star then I'd have him as even more under rated but he seems to be rebounding from that heart test in some mocks/rankings.

WR- Terrance Williams. He's not my favorite receiver(that title goes to Keenan) but I like him more than the masses. A little raw but has terrific hands, good vertical threat and willing blocker.

If at all possible would be nice to let people post their opinions and let it be. Just want to hear some opposing views without having to read thru pissing matches of others bashing other's opinions and forcing them to go on the defensive and derailing the thread. Be fun to bump the thread down the road and laugh at each other but for now just wanna hear some other opinions.

I disagree with alot of this here. Especially Floyd and Jenkins. Floyd Is 10x the player he is in my opinion

Not saying Jenkins is better, but based off where they are projected to go, I feel like Jenkins is being slighted and Floyd is being a little over hyped imo. I was not posting prospect rankings just the most over rated and under rated prospects in my eyes. Have not looked over every prospect but have the top 5-10 or so at each position I listed.

Overrated:

Tavon Austin, before the combine. The guy was at best a late third round pick. Once he ran that 40 time, he sky rocketed. He's been over hyped by the likes of McShay, Kiper, etc. He's a career slot receiver. Nothing more nothing less. Percy Harvin did not get this much hype and he went in the late first. I don't see why he should be the first guy taken. I good someone else takes him.

Underrated:

Keenan Allen and Justin Hunter.

Both are severely underrated, not only by the couch GM here but the national pundits too.

Overrated:

Floyd x1000. Quite possibly the most overrated prospect I've seen in a long time.

Patterson. Almost any other year he'd be looked at like a 2nd round prospect like he was early in draft season.

Underrated:

Hunter.

Rambo.

Hankins.

Overrated:

Tavon Austin- Players like Steve Smith and Welker were drafted or not drafted in the correct rounds. Steve beat the odds but the odds still exist. Big fast guys run the NFL. Trying to pick the next Steve Smith is like wasting $20 on a scratch off ticket.

Chance Warmack - I just look at this guy and think his knees, feet, and ankles will not last 10 years in this league. He certainly has talent but I predict injury troubles for big Chance.

Mike Glennon - I just look at him and think this guy isn't a franchise QB

Kenny Vaccaro - 2nd Round pick in my opinion

Underrated:

Kenjon Barner - I think he has talent. He might not be Ray Rice, but he reminds me of Ray Rice in terms of being underrated.

EJ Manuel - I think there are some less talented Quarterbacks above him right now.

Levine Toilolo - This guy is huge. Most of his flaws can be coached if he's willing to learn.

I think he's a top prospect in his position but Allen is a tad overhyped. His skills, talent and athleticism don't overshadow WRs like Austin, Rogers and Hopkins. Furthermore, the comparisons to Calvin Johnson are ridiculous.

If we don't draft him, I certainly won't lose any sleep over it.

this is exactly what i mean. he is just as athletic as those guys you named, and who compared him to megatron? if the knee is fine, he will impress tommorrow.

    • Today, we are all Kucci... I miss our feral Russian attack goalie!
    • That was a good segment. Watched every minute of it and would highly recommend it to all fans.
    • "So much of what the Panthers are going to do next week isn't dictated by their preference, but by what happens above them. That's another benefit of not getting locked into need. For instance, if you're thinking you want a receiver, seeing five or six of them go off the board and reacting by taking the sixth or seventh off your list instead of the first (or second or third) something else isn't necessarily wise." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-back-into-the-weeds-of-the-nfl-draft-bryce-young-charlotte-hornets-mock-draft This is what some don't seem to get, I don't care how many times it is said: You're NOT going to draft an inferior person at one position, just because that position is perceived as, or is in fact, a bigger need. That would basically nullify, or at least lessen, the reason why you set yourself up via free agency to be able to take the BPA/BAP on the board in the first place.  Yes, the process is complex, very much involved and ongoing, but the overall philosophy is not rocket science. You set yourself up in order not to be pigeonholed into taking a lower graded player at the expense of a higher graded one. This is why Morgan, Gantt and countless of others say the same thing. This is why it's just nonsensical to set yourself in a position where you don't have to, but then act like you have to come hell or high water: "Oh, we have to draft [whatever position], and we can't draft [this position]."  I'm good with whatever they do, until proven otherwise, but even then, you have to be mature enough to know that drafting is an imperfect exercise, filled with hits and misses. And, you generally don't know if you've hit, and especially missed, right away. Moreover, like I've said before, sometimes two players--different positions or not--can both be hits on their respective teams, so in that sense, it's not purely about a right or wrong pick as much as it's about putting puzzle pieces together at the time the best way that you know how.  At the end of the day, people are going to believe what they want to believe, but one thing that's true is that what the Panthers do regarding the draft is dependent upon what others do, and what others do can and does change things. That being the case, it's just another reason why you can't go in with tunnel vision. The thought of doing that is preposterous.
