newton wants to lose weight

Recommended Posts

If it helps his flexibility while maintaining his strength that has to be good right?  He's so tall and long those pile ups with his legs poking out everywhere scare the hell out of me.  Get limber Cam, if that means lose a small amount of weight so be it.  Just stay healthy.

I am just weary of change when the physical tools are there perfectly fine. Can is already a physical specimen.

Remember when they changed jakes mechanics?

Believe it or not, extra padding does help prevent injury.

that is why everyone is saying that BMI is a bad indicator.

I punched in 6'5" and 245 lbs........BMI said overweight.

BMI's main application is estimating a rough picture of obesity over a given population.

Its failure is when it is applied on an individual by individual basis.

BMI fails to accurately assess the difference between fat tissue and lean muscle. i.e. It's terrible to analyze athletes using BMI.

BMI doesn't distinguish between body frame types. It also doesn't account for aging. Lastly, you can't even use it to assess risk for diabetes/coronary issues/etc. because it sucks at that too. Measuring your waist is more accurate than BMI when it comes to figuring out disease risk.

All in all BMI sucks when you try to apply it to the individual.

I agree 100%.

I could show you two people with the exact height and weight.....one has weight in muscle and the other in fat.  BMI looks at them equally.

That is why it is a bad tool to use when evaluating someone.

BMI is meant for general population though, average americans.

Here is a simpler one. Take your jeans waist size and inseam. If waist size is bigger than inseam.... bad news.

Speed diminishes faster than strength and power. And Cam wasn't what you would call 'doughy' either.

Yep I hear ya, it does, but we dont know what weight Cam is dropping from either. I mean no one hear has a month to month scale of his fat to muscle ratio. He has the best trainers at his side, . . guys that get paid almost a million dollars to just keep dudes in perfect shape.

Fat isnt a useful thing in any way to a QB, its also not killing him to have 5 extra pounds of it on him when he's already less than 6%. He's 250 not 105. If he says he's shaving off 5 or so, can you seriously say its going to effect him in a poor way?

1. The fact that we're discussing this so seriously is ridiculous.

2. Cam is a noted sugar junkie, and adds giant marshmallows to his bowls of Lucky Charms on top of super-sweet red Koolaid. I'm sure that catches up during the year.

Please tell me you are kidding on that second one.

    • I hope you understand that this Anti Bryce thing as you call it is really a pro Panthers thing. I think I can safely use we. We want the best for the Panthers.  As far as this other post saying ‘Anti’ Bryce people do misinformation.. you mean like going all in on “Renfro should have caught” that poorly thrown ball? I guess it was week 1. And calling it a drop. Comical btw.  I wonder, did you call that out or let it slide because it aligned with your agenda?
    • These are great posts with the comparisons and the numbers.   I haven’t lookyat Smity’s numbers since probably the first time he was on the ballot.  But if you watched every week you know what he is. Whatever his yardage or targets numbers were.  He was fuging dominant. I have watched since the AFL days and seen who there is to see. There are many great WRs over the years. GREAT WRs. Smitty is up there in the game of football.
    • Smith is clear cut HOF if you judge what he did by reception. Fitzgerald was a stat padder.    The most Steve Smith was ever targeted in his career was in 2005 (150 targets). The same year he wins the triple crown.    Larry Fitzgerald was targeted more than 150 times over 9 separate seasons. Not once eclipsing 1500 yards in a season.    The over glazing of Larry Fitzgerald going around is way over blown. ARZ was top 10 in passing attempts nearly his entire prime. Steve Smith and Andre Johnson had it far worse and would have surpassed his #s in the same situation.
