Since entering the league in 2011, Cam Newton has proven himself to be one of the most athletic and physically gifted quarterbacks the league has ever seen. In the past two years he has shattered numerous records, including the record for most rushing touchdowns in a season by a quarterback, and has paved the way for mobile quarterbacks such as Robert Griffin IIIand Colin Kaepernick with his ability to excel with a read-option offense. But despite his overwhelming physical tools and eye-popping stats, Cam has yet to deliver a winning season. Stats and measurables are nice to have on one's resume, but Cam, like any other quarterback, will be judged on how much he wins. If he can't win, then all of his talent is for naught.

Cam's problem is one that has affected many talented players throughout the history of the league, a problem that becomes severely enigmatic when a team's franchise quarterback is suffering from this problem. Cam suffers from big-play addiction. While he certainly has the ability to spring a big play at any time, that doesn't necessarily mean that the big play is the right play. A smart, winning quarterback knows to make the right play, even if that play is throwing the ball away or taking a sack. Cam on the other hand, will either try to run his way out of trouble or throw into tight coverage, usually ending up in an unnecessary turnover. If Cam is going to start winning, he has learn to take what the defense gives him. While he certainly has the ability to spring a 70 yard run or launch an 80 yard bomb, that doesn't mean he can pull it off all the time.

Truly clutch quarterbacks make the right plays so as to put their team in position to win. Look at Tom Brady's or Eli Manning's Super Bowl winning drives, Colin Kaepernick's drive to end the game in Super Bowl XLII, or half of John Elway's career for that matter. They didn't take their team down the field with one or two big, flashy plays. They dinked and dunked the ball down the field, throwing the ball away when the defense was solid and running for first downs when they saw an opening. Granted, Kaepernick didn't win the game, but he did put his team in the red zone at the end of the game; perfect position to win. The point is that he didn't put the ball in harm's way, which is what Cam does consistently at the end of games. Instead of taking control of the offense and managing the clock, he forces bad throws into tight windows and tries to get yardage that simply isn't there. He turns the ball over in the most crucial of situations, making it impossible for his team to win.

No one likes to have any football IQ when they write these articles because the gen-pub doesnt have any football IQ.. if they broke it down by "offensive scheme" they would see that Cam has played his best football when the offense was well balanced and more simplified.

Im not about to type out 6 paragraphs on the subject but thats what it boils down to... also our secondary was horrendous with nakamura back there and little to no interior rush to disrupt the passer.

do people just forget that he's only been in the league for two years?  they act like he is a 5 year pro who hasn't put up a winning season.

i could go on and on and on and on about why we haven't put up a winning season and how it is probably only 5% Cam's fault.

Funny i was in the ABC store the other day wearing a Panthers t-shirt. Cashier starts talking about the Panthers and how Cam Newton needs to step up, he's immature, blah blah blah. All this from a fellow Panthers fan.

The guy in front of me wearing a New York giants hat said. "hold on a second, Cam Newton is the least of the Panthers problems, that dude is an absolute stud.

this article and all of the other ones are just part of the smear campaign against Cam, pay no attention, don't provide links so these dumbasses get the hits.

Not sure which is harder to get to write for, Yahoo or the Bleacher Report.  The problem with Yahoo is that the Yahoo network actually has some professional journalists and sportswriters, so there's a little credibility there (we can debate the amount elsewhere).  So, people see Yahoo in the URL and assume that the contributor network has the same standards, and it clearly does not.

    • I think the same thing, they don’t have any better options especially since Christiansen is out for the year
    • It wasn’t completely his fault, but outside of two throws and one or two scrambles he didn’t do much to help. His accuracy was all over the place, numerous passes that were placed poorly and didn’t give the receiver a good chance to catch the ball or do anything with it after. He also continues to display terrible pocket awareness. Even the sacks could have been avoided, they weren’t immediate like the pressure we got on Shough at times. Bryce just often has no feel for pressure and stands there waiting to get sacked after numerous seconds have passed.
    • I really fuging hate this era in so many ways.  I look at those Adin Ross and Neon kids, and I just wonder why tf are they famous?  Why would anyone be desperate enough to gain THAT audience that they’d risk money, career, disciplinary action to go up there and associate with those fuging dweebs?  And back in my day, racist peers got their ass beat.  And not endorsing or approving bully culture, but checks and balances and all…  had those two been bullied, or at the very least humbled, they wouldn’t be famous and glorified for being the fuging idiots they are now.  It seriously pisses me off… they both have done and said multiple, openly racist stuff and major media keeps pushing them, talking about them, and propping them up… and then dummies like Puka who don’t need the platform or exposure lend their celebrity to them.  fuging idiot… and even the other streamers, I don’t get - Speed, Kai…  I don’t understand making nobodies famous at all, but there is at least entertainment value to some degree there, and I could see how young, impressionable kids would find them something to aspire to (sadly), or view as “cool.”  But Ross and Neon?  They’re just shitty, shitty nerds with big ass mouths. I’ve went back recently and watched some classics (in two very different eras and categories 😂)  like Robocop and Idiocracy.  And what I find fascinating is how both movies illustrate how stupid society became by showing what the citizenry is entertained by.  In both, society became anti-intellectual and the citizenry were entertained by lowest denominator, primal-type absurdity - poo like, “Ouch! My Balls!”  Or on Robocop, a guy is a watching a show where they are smashing cakes on ladies’ breasts and then a guy says a line as the camera zooms in like, “I’d buy that for a dollar!” and the audience thinks it’s hilarious.  That’s where I feel like we are now.  Like who watches that clip with Puka and thinks any of that poo is funny or cool?  If I was Puka, I’d honestly be wondering why tf I’m hanging out with these beta ass, racist, cretin ass weirdos.
