Online poker?

I guess the real question is how to fund. I see a few options on Google but obviously my BofA visa card will not work.

They're tough to fund since the UIGEA.  There's a few options...WU or moneygram usually work.  There are prepaid visa cards you can buy at most malls that will go through on a deposit where your credit or debit card won't work (or at least they would a year ago) that might also be an option.

  • 3 weeks later...

I remembered that I have a credit union visa. Worked just fine.

I was recommended 2 sites: Carbon Poker and Bovada (the US version of Bodog)

Carbon has a better interface however the customer service is bad. I contacted them 3 times and never received a response. Once was in response to the servers going down. It may have been on my end I'm not sure. But when i was able to reconnect the two games I was in were gone and no evidence that I had played (no hand history etc). The money was gone though. Someone suggested that I go on 2+2 forums as there is usually a CP rep there. But I wanted to try Bovada.

Bovada has great customer service. I have contacted them by both email and phone and they couldn't be better or quicker. The interface isn't quite as good as CP and the games aren't perfect. They have 10/5/3 min blind options for single table SnGs. 5 is my pref but they only have 6 player tables. I only play 9 player. I may email and ask if they will open some.

Bovada seems jucier so far. There were some decent plays on CP.

I think you're out of luck, for now. A friend of mine that plays professionally moved to Costa Rica to play online. I know Nevada is moving towards legalizing online poker but it'll be a while before it is legal nationally.

Poker itself is not technically illegal. It's just illegal for banks to allow you to fund it.

gettting money in isn't a problem, it's getting your winnings back out that's the trick.

True.

Both of the sites I mentioned have a good track record of getting your money back. You will read some bad reviews on delays and ID requests but I haven't seen anyone who had their money stolen.

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
