Yahoo.com: Jump on the Panthers bandwagon before it's too late

Shutdown Corner has us #11 in their preseason power ranking.  I know your hearts are fluttering just like mine.

Carolina will be good this year with some normal luck. Quarterback Cam Newton was tremendous in the second half of the season after everyone tuned out the Panthers. The defensive front seven is one of the best in football. Many people will say they're surprised when the Panthers are in the playoffs this season, but they shouldn't be surprised at all.

This team’s best-case scenario for the 2013 season: Winning the NFC South. Had the Panthers won half of their game decided by less than a touchdown last year, they would have been 10-6, so they're not as far off as people think. If not for a very unlucky series of events late at Atlanta, they would have swept the Saints and Falcons last year. Newton and middle linebacker Luke Kuechly are already stars, even if not everyone realizes it. By the end of the year, the Panthers will get a lot more respect.

If they start and play through the season like they did over the last six, a winning season and perhaps a wild card spot would be realistic.

Sigh... I still can't get over how we lost to Atlanta the first game.  I am never one for "What if?" stuff because you can apply it to a lot of games but seriously, we had it won.

The Kansas City and second Tampa Bay game hurt pretty bad too.

Everyone's favorite ESPN radio personality Cowherd basically said the same thing the other day about jumping on the Carolina bandwagon. Said they were going to be very good and they lost quite a few close games that another year of maturity would win for them this year.

Cowherd, ripped us to heck and back last year, now he thinks we could be good? Lol

I like the positive press but cowherd is going to say what ever he thinks will get people to listen to him, he's a sports talk radio version of a shock jock.

First Atlanta game....gave it away

Second TB game....gave it away

Chicago game...dominated all game and gave it away

Dallas game...controlled game all day and gave it away

The smart analysts see this...that this team could have very easily (if not should have been). 11-5 last year.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
