Panthers Have "No Idea" When Stewart Will Return

Recommended Posts

According to an inside source, CBSSports has learned that no one really knows when Jonathan Stewart will return.

Stewart continues to have ankle problems, and a source told CBSSports.com's Dave Richard that the team doesn't know when he'll return to the practice field.

Stewart is on the Physically Unable to Perform list, and he'll stay there for the time being. In fact, the team has “no idea” when he'll be ready to come off it.

"It could be any day or it could carry on into the regular season," the source told Richard.

That's fine, if the offense from the end of last season we need a bellcow and not a tandem. Dwill getting 20+ carries and not only breaking 100 but 200 yards convinced me of that. People also seem to forget we have Tolbert and Barner who are both going to be change of pace backs. Let Stew stew, and let him come back good as new, we will start to look like the Greek mythological dog with 4 heads. Whose gonna eat you is the question.

Until its Offical i'm counting on Stewart to be ready by the season....maybe they are taking extra caution to heal the injury 100% before risking anything.

That is a novel concept. $35 mil running back injured in camp because he wasn't 100%. Who wants to make that mistake.

From a source close to the situation

Stewart: I'll do what I do every year, man. I ain't really into that summer heat, all that work? Heck no. When Training Camp starts to come to a close, I may get back out there, provided coach doesn't have us doing too much, but until then, I'm really enjoying my spot on the bike this year. They got these little areas underneath the seat where you can put your water bottle this year, and they even let us take our iPods out there so we can listen to music and stuff, and it's really just a much better overall experience this year. I'll just keep working hard, doing what I do, you know?

    • This guy pre-draft was saying he could take or leave football, and he seems to have been playing with that mentality ever since lol.
    • Agreed, another safety would be nice. Bud Clark, TCU, is one I would like to see us take a flyer on later in the draft, if he stays healthy and we don't take someone earlier. I just really hope we draft a solid C this year. Tired of seeing us cycle through average to below average players in that area.
    • Bryce doesn't like throwing into the middle of the field unless the play broke down or it's set up to give him a passing lane.  So because of this issue, most of the passing offense has to be outside the numbers towards the boundary. So you see him throw a lot of dump offs, swing routes, short side out routes, comebacks or deep balls outside the numbers using the boundary as protection of an interception.    Pretty easy for a NFL defense to see this and scheme against it.  All you have to do is run a shell cover 2 deep dime, LB plays a hook underneath, take the flat away with a blitz/flat zone option for the two inside DB's, outside two DB's play hook zone underneath and carry anything deep.    Pretty much what NO ran to take away Rico while also limiting What Bryce can do as well.
