Haven't heard a lot about him as far as camp goes. so i have toned down my out look on him for the season.

Rivera was interviewed and asked about Star. His answer?

"He's everything we hoped he could be, and more."

That's good enough for me.

I have a feeling Star will be taking a lot of tackles Luke got last season. So, sadly my adopt-a-panther might go a little hungry for tackles this season from RB's coming up the middle.

Well, touchee to that.... There is a lot of high expectations for him in this forum. I just like to be realistic and be prepared if he struggles a bit.

 

He's a rookie DT in the NFL, there are gonna be times when he struggles.

Usually takes DT's at least a year to make a big impact.

 

That said, Star will likely hold his point of attack and occupy 1.75 blockers most plays. Which is more than can be said of our DT's last season. *usually*

If he holds .5 of a blocker, that's improvement over what we've had at the position for several seasons.

Honestly, I think Star will take on alot of blockers for Luke. I think Luke's production is going to skyrocket much further than it already has.

Star wasnt drafted to be a glamorous tackling machine, he was drafted to swallow blockers, jack the oline, hold point of attack, and ultimatly allow our Linebackers to flow where they want without much resistance.

Star will do the dirty work that will push our Defense to be very good.
