Jim Skipper and Ricky Proehl

Quite possibly two of the best coaching hires this team has made in recent memory. We all remember the impact Skipper's departure had on Stewart and Williams as neither were happy to see him leave, especially after their record-setting year when both ran for more than 1100 yards, only to get canned less than 2 seasons later.

Ricky Proehl's impact on a relatively unproven group of WRs is already noticeable. I'm one of the biggest AE detractors on the planet, but if he actually develops into a serviceable WR, I'll have to ive props to he and Proehl. David Gettis showed signs last night as well, but it's early. Ricky will teach these guys how to become disciplined route runners, how to find the seams and how to sit down in a zone- attributes every WR on this team not named Steve Smith was lacking.

If we see a couple WRs have breakout years while Stewart and Williams return to form- look no further than Jim Skipper and Ricky Proehl.

Yeah, man, I know it's only one preseason game, but between what we've heard from camp, and seeing a rookie RB seemingly fix his biggest flaw in such a short time, as well as seeing a couple of projects at WR actually showing signs of life and turning the corner in a real-game environment speaks volumes as to receiving great coaching.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
