So where does Shula need to rank for us to be successful?

This was actually a fun list to come up with.  In doing so, it's painfully obvious that if our franchise has an overall identity, it's all about defense.

Since the Panthers have been in existence, here are our offensive coordinators:

Joe Pendry (1995-1997)

Gil Haskell (1998-1999)

Bill Musgrave (2000)

Richard Williamson (2000-2001)

Dan Henning (2002-2006)

Jeff Davidson (2007-2010)

Rob Chudzinski (2011-2012)

Mike Shula (2012-?)

Personally, I would rank them as follows:

1) Haskell

2) Chud

3) Henning

4) Musgrave/Williamson

5) Pendry

6) Davidson

My question to the board is, where do you think Shula would need to rank on this list to bring the Panthers some success, given how well McDermott/Rivera have our defense playing?  And please, feel free to switch around the rankings. :)

The offense we had under Henning in 03 was probably the most talented we have ever had.  Jake was solid at qb, Smith, Moose and Proehl gave us a gifted group of receivers, Stephen Davis and Deshaun Foster (before all the injuries) and a roided up offensive line ;).  That probably helped Henning a lot.  We can talk about the offensive coordinator all we want, but in the end, an offense needs talent to succeed.

But I will say that imo, Henning did his best job in 05, with one legitimate target receiver wise, and a worn out Stephen Davis along with Deshaun Foster at rb.

Nice list, props for the effort.

None of those fuggers had Cam in his 3rd year and beyond.

Shula better be #1.

    • Jalen Carter came into camp out of shape too. That was part of the reason he dropped considering he was thought of as the better defensive player pre-draft activities. It’s not a good sign when you don’t look great but it’s definitely premature.
    • We won 5 with the worst defense in the history of defenses.  I think free agency and our draft puts us over 6.5.
    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
