Great point...  it could go either way, you don't know how Alexander is going to play and if Hardy has a huge year, he could cost so much we'd have to dump him or let him walk (or at least tag him)...

This would be the first pure extension, not massive contract re-work, Gettleman has negotiated here....am I right on that?

Hardy will get a solid contract.  Not Charles Johnson type of money or anything.  But a good contract, and we do NOT want to be stuck in a Flacco situation like they Ravens were this past off season.

He's had one good season.

We lock him up with an extension now, we STILL get him for a bargain compared to letting him play his contract year, having another good/monster year.

The risk is not extending him now.
