How much is Hardy worth?

I'm really not worry about giving Hardy a contract anytime soon. I mean why should we?

We have the edge over Hardy at this point and time. You guys are forgetting that Hardy's hands are tied. Yall are forgetting all about the "Franchise Tag". If we dont reach an extension, we simply Franchise Hardy. He'll eventually come to camp at some point in time or else he'll lose a lot of money. Another scenario, "tag and trade" the man. Im not going to expect an extension anytime soon.

Right, I'm sure that's solid logic. *rolls eyes*

Could it be that G-Man just wants Hardy to sign the extension now while he's cheaper? Naw, that can't be.

Not sure what's with you and your undermining tone. But that is my point. Signing him now on the cheap is what you want to do. I'm just going to back away now. Honestly. Some of you have the tendency of shoveling sand in your manginas all on your own...

Do a 3-4 year deal....3 years at 24 or 4 years 30....I would try to stick the 3 year deal to keep his motor going...I think no matter the contract he'll keep playing a high level but don't want him to rest on his spoils too much...I doubt he would take a 3 year deal but 4 for 30 wouldn't be out of the question.  I don't think we will get him for 5 years 30 as a few have mentioned.  We shall see...really all depends when and if the deal gets done prior to the start 4 years 30 after the season when he has double digit sacks again 4 for 42 million or so.

Charles Johnson had 21 sacks in 4 seasons when he sat down at the negotiating table.  He was coming off his best season and only double-digit season (11).  He faces the right tackle and is solid vs. the run.  $12.66 million per season.  Many people on here say he is worth the money.

Greg Hardy has 18 sacks in 3 seasons.  He is coming off his best season and his only double-digit sack year (11).  He faces the LEFT tackle and is solid vs the run.  Many people on here are saying he is worth $6 million.

While we all know that Hurney was like a kid on crack with daddy's credit card, you can bet that Hardy's agent will mention CJ's deal on more than one occasion.

If you think that CJ is worth nearly $13 million and Hardy is worth $6, then you have not looked at the numbers.  Johnson was overpaid, but he was not being extended and could walk.  Hardy will command lower $$ because there are no guarantees-- a bad season or injury could impact his worth in a negative way.  However, I am guessing the extended contract will be closer to $10 million than $5 million.  Again, $8 million is about right.

I would love $6m--and I think Gettlemen will get the bottom dollar--but that is wishful thinking.

He's going to get more then Paul Kruger and that was 8 million a season (5 for 40). Hardy is going to get a contract very close to CJ's with close to 30 Million guaranteed. Stop think 6-8 million a season and start thinking 9-12 million a season.  That's just how valuable DE's are in the NFL and Drew knows this as well as any one and will get Hardy a boat load of cash.

Drew's going to sit down and say, my other two clients here got 50+ million dollar deals (Beason and Johnson) and Hardy had a monster year last season, he's clearly worth more then Johnson because of his age and versatility. So let's start this off at 6 years 84 million dollars and go from there. lol  They'll meet in the middle with a 6 year deal worth around 60-70 million or Hardy will be franchised and then Walk for nothing like Peppers.

An elite contract would be 13 million a year.

That's what he'll command next year if we don't extend him this year.

I'd guess 6-7 million a year is what he's worth currently.

5 year contract worth 30-35 million.

It's the guaranteed part that'll be tge big point.

I could see 20 million guaranteed in the first 3 years.

Everyone is low balling Hardy's contract potential just like they did Johnson's. Hardy's younger, he's more versatile of a player and plays the more important DE spot. It's going to be a massive contract or a franchise tag.

So did you.  I mentioned the timing, but did not realize how critical it is until your post.  If we wait until February and he has 13 tackles for loss, 56 tackles and 14 sacks, we lose him.

However, he has to think, "If I take $35 million now, I am set for life.  If I wait, I could suffer an injury.  I could get stonewalled and get only 3 sacks."

Come to think of it, the ONLY way we keep Hardy (assuming he has a bigger year than last year because he has some stud DTs and LBs now) is to do the deal now, before his resume gets gawdy.

Yeah. He's worth 8-10 million a year currently.

But will he get it from getts?

That's the question.

They really have three options

Play hardball and hope he balks (if not then franchise tag him for 13 million)

Give him what Drew ask for (likely around 10 million a season (more then 8 because that's what Kruger got)

Try to trade him or let him walk.
