Official Panthers Cuts Thread...

Roh legitimately made plays too.  I think Horton is PS eligible.

Only complaint about Roh is when I see his name I think 'Rut'

Both Roh and Horton are eligible. I just think they both outplayed Addison. I think we were always going to go with 5 DEs and Addison is the odd man out. Could be wrong, but I doubt it.

It's nice to have choices.

Wes Horton Hears A Who and Craig Rut Roh...

I like it.

Thanks, Chris

Jets will pick up clausen.

Or Raiders.

I wish I could remember, but after his rookie season, I compared Clausen to Sanchez.  Some crackhead started berating me, telling me how good Sanchez is.

Clausen was no fit in this offense--question is, is he a fit in any?'

IF ANYONE READS THIS AND FEELS COMPELLED TO RESPOND, PLEASE REFER BACK TO THE THREAD TITLE.  COMMENTS SUCH AS THIS DERAIL A THREAD THAT IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE UP-TO-DATE INFO.  Sorry.  Back to the wire. I apologize.

Twitter is saying Craig Roh made the roster.

Remember when we used to cut players who played well in preseason (followed by hoards of reasonabatards saying it's just preseason!) and then they'd go somewhere and be good football players?

I think I'm pretty happy to see those days are over. As long as the stockpile of DE's doesn't cut into us finding depth where we need it.

I'm not disagreeing with you but just curious. Who have we ever cut that turned out to be really good players for other teams?

Evan Mathis is considered by some experts, including Profootball Focus, to be the best Guard in the league. However, it is hard to say he would have been that good with us, because it took us cutting him for him to actually want to be great.

The names escape me but there was a corner that ended up being a very good special teamer and 4th corner for Green Bay (edit: Jarrett Bush), and a DT that started for quite a few years (and played well) for Tennessee (edit: Tony Brown).

Also Tim Shaw has been a stalwart special teamer for years. Jerome Felton FB for Vikings. Evan Mathis OG.

Im sure there are more.

There have been a few.  Evan Mathis is probably the biggest at the moment, but there are others.

Other names that come to mind: Stevie Brown, Andre Brown, Jovan Haye, Dave Ball, Jarrett Bush

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
