Person says Nakamura won't be staying

On one side, I think a lot of Huddlers were looking at the fact that he was backing up Ed Reed as a positive in Haruki's behalf, because it was obvious that he wasn't sitting the bench behind someone mediocre. But we didn't know he'd be that bad either, since the Ravens usually do a good job of keeping their defensive bench pretty well stocked. But that's why it helps to have film on a guy. Plus, for all his faults, he did fine at his special teams job.

What's been said here about the big 3 (Fua, Nakamura, and Clausen) is what I was getting at in some other threads recently. Not that coaches intentionally pick favorites and play them to their detriment, but sometimes they are blinded by their admiration for that player - whether it be becauee of their character, work ethic, etc., for whatever reason they like the player enough to not see their shortcomings.

I felt Rivera had this kind of situation with those guys and with Hurney wanting to ensure his draft oicks stick, there was no push to move on from them. Now, I get the feeling Ron has as much say as he has always had in the beginning of the process, but I think Gettleman has the absolute final say in what goes.

I've maintained all along that we have accepted medicority for too long and part of getting out from under its weight is cutting loose those unproductive and mediocre players creating that atmosphere.

He was very good on special teams and he would've been fine as a back-up in the secondary. It isn't his fault he was forced to start.

I think he gets cut, and Mikell is signed, even if he's healthy. Gettleman is a mad man on a mission to prove everyone wrong for passing over him for so many years.

Suggest he open a Judo school and put his real skills to use instead of tossing various players around the field.Good luck to him, wasnt much of a full time football player but seemed like a nice enough guy. At least he got to live his dream for a bit in this life.

I don't know if that is true. His contract redo had something to do with staying on the roster for this season.

I'd guess his cap numbers would probably be small enough that the team could eat them without too much damage.

It is from Person though.  He's been wrong before.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
    • Totally possible imo, I also caught that snippet from Morgan where he said “If” we sign him. The lack of competition says otherwise tho 🤷‍♂️
