Watched it last night on Amazon Prime.

 

So much better than I was expecting. Reminded me of an 80s action flick.

Funny you mention it. It just came out on Netflix and I just watched it this week. Then I rewatched it yesterday. Its a surprisingly good movie. Karl Urban does a killer Dredd. And here's a real twist; it's an action flick that actively uses female characters. Anderson saves Dredd numerous times, has special abilities, and is generally anything but a damsel in distress. And Ma-Ma is the sickest, most violent and sadistic character in a film full of alpha males. Really damn good movie. Kind of hoping for a sequel.

Yeah, I thought Ma Ma was awesome. Not often you see middle aged white women play such a sick role.

I made it about 50 minutes and then cut it off. I guess I should give it another chance because it seems like everyone else enjoyed to some extent.

I made the mistake of not going to the theater to see this so I went out and bought the bluray after renting it.

I thought it was just ok, I was expecting a bigger "bad guy/villian" with a bigger grand scheme for a Dredd Movie, it just seemed like it was just another day in park compared to fighting a real threat or villain

 

and Ma ma, while not a nice person by any stretch posed no real threat to Megacity 1.

 

thought Total Rekall was a better as a resurrection in every way.

Like I said, it reminded me of an 80s action flick. No big complex plot. Just bad guys and good guys.

Fun movie, but the slow-motion scenes really blew.  I know they were used as a way to tell the story of the drug, but we didn't need 10 minutes of the movie in slow-motion.

 

I'm still jaded by the Stallone version, I expect Dredd to have a deep and manly voice only to have Urban talk ever so gingerly.
