I hate these seemingly over-reactive threads, but...perhaps we need to change the OC, right now.

Perhaps the nice shiny new toy---Cam Newton and company---is too much for Mike Shula to handle. It's pretty fuged up that there is even a question after one game.  I mean, the season is still early, and we have an off-weak within basically a month's time. Perhaps moving in another direction would destroy our offensive continuity, or it may be the best thing to get us on track, being that the season is still in its infancy.

Is it too late for us ask permission to talk with  Hue Jackson?  Seriously.

Remember when I mentioned Steve Logan early on during the off-season?

Logan and Jackson are the types of guys that are going to take that Lambo and put it through its paces... not get a ticket for moseying down I-85 too slowly.

Jeebus.  Shula was not the problem yesterday.  I wasn't 100% happy with some of the decisions but I like what we are trying to accomplish.  Yes we only scored 7 points, but looking at the bigger picture I am not up in arms over our offense (yet).

Mike Shula. And although you hate these threads, you just created one.  Shula may/or may not be the answer but we are pretty much stuck with him this year.  The ship for bringing in outsiders has sailed.

Thanks. Dave, Mike, whatever (LOL).

Anyway, why do we have to assume that the ship has sailed?  This is exactly the type of thinking that lead us to the point of looking like an offense stuck in quicksand yesterday. Sometimes you have to think outside the box to get where you need to go.

I totally disagree.  I think the play calling was pretty good yesterday, though I would like to see more screens.

No screens, nary a two-TE set, no draws, and not enough passes to the RBs in general.

Did you see the Dallas game last night?  They ran the wheels off DeMarco Murray.  It was a thing of beauty to see Murray moving the chains repeatedly after dropping underneath coverage due to an overaggressive Giants pass rush.  I couldn't help but think of our molasses offense.

i wonder where the line is for knuckleheads to either blame coaches like this thread, or players for lack of execution like other threads.

Say what you want.  There were thousands of high school QBs that had a better stat line than Cam friggin' Newton this past week.  For Cam to throw for one and a quarter is damned near unbelievable.

give me a larger sample size first.

the bills don't have a very good defense. if we score seven points against them because of wussy playcalling then sure, think about making a change.

I get this sentiment and if this was his first shot at being an OC i would agree with you. With Shula we do have a large sample size. Go back and watch his time as the OC in Tampa Bay, he was turrible.

    • Hey if they could beat Seattle… tiebreaker head to head over GB, LARms, Seattle… win out the record is 11-6.  Now rap my knuckles for suggesting we win out, but that would be some funny poo. Talk about sneaking up on people.
    • I expected 6 wins this season. I need to see the Panthers blow by that now that they exceeded it by 1. I like how Canales has schemed around the weaknesses on offense in the passing game. I am impressed with the receivers, run blocking, running back combo and secondary communication in zone. Defense and QB need more consistency. The improvement of the defensive play calling and critical 3rd down and 4Q passing when trailing is going to be what I am looking for going into the playoffs. If the Panthers can consistently regain the lead after trailing over the next 4 games, I can see them competing in the playoffs and worth a reevaluation of the last 2 seasons' weaknesses. This is the prove it or lose it moment in their Panthers careers for Young and Evero. No excuses.
    • He's on the smaller size for a center (5'8" 175lbs) and he is a bit of a liability in the faceoff circle. But, he's a proven 60 pt player with room to grow. I'd still rather go get TT from Buffalo. Rossi would be a great consolation prize, though.
