"It’s probably too late for coordinator Mike Shula to install a new offense, but if head coach Ron Rivera wants to save his job, it is a risk worth taking.

If not, they will be watching the new coaching staff installing that offense around Newton next year."

This guy probably doesn't realize this is the same offense we have been running for 2 years and Newton has put up record pace rushing numbers and doing it all.

Lets completely disregard we have only played one game.....against the best secondary and one of the fastest sideline to sideline D's. You have to limit yourself if you want to compete with them

Why won't fans and analysts WAIT to watch this Sunday's game before we crucify? 125 yards and 7 points appears very discouraging on the surface but I like the looks the offense got and how accurate (other than two passes) and composed Cam appeared in the pocket.

It's called PTSD from last year's "fool me once..."

That's not so hard to understand.  Win this week and next without looking offensively anemic, and the first game's offensive malaise is but a bad memory---a hiccup towards the post-season.

I understand the concern but I think it's far too late to change the offense now. Furthermore, while Cam didn't take any deep shots down the field, I feel a bit optimistic about the playcalling. I think we're simply lacking chemistry.

Chemistry and at least real talent on the oline...I'm hoping Shula can break Cam of his bad reading habits but that ship may have already sailed.

Bad reading? His first touchdown came via a blitz he recognized pre-snap. Hell, his touchdown last week against The Seahawks was a thing of beauty. He needs to improve a tad more but young QBs tend to lock onto their favorite targets. Kaepernick and RG3 are prime examples.

I was referring to his locking-on tendencies, yes.  I will always love me some 89, but there are times Lafell is open that Cam just doesn't register.  Going to be interesting to see how we address OL and WR in the offseason since both could really use high picks.

Good article. It's a terrible feeling watching how San Fran uses Kaepernick, knowing we could do that and more. Instead we're stuck with Shula and a legion of good ole boy fans who still think "pound the rock and hit  'em with play action! that's how you win right thur derp!"

Such a shame Cam's talent is being wasted as it is.

LaFell being ignored at times makes me question the connection between him and Cam. They appear to be on the same page in one week but not the following. I feel he's not as confident in Brandon as he is in Olsen or Smitty. His chemistry with Edwards, Hixon and Ginn could be much worse.

Agreed, we need both. I wonder who goes first and if we move up to acquire either one.

LaFell was Cams 3rd read on most plays. As has been said before Cam does not have time to make it to his 3rd read. That's coaching, not Can.

This article and a lot of the talk about what the Panthers need to do on offense is garbage.  So basically this article wants the same scheme as last season or similar??   If I recall, myself and many others, at least here in Panther land were calling for a more traditional offense.  That read options, as a base offense was crap.  I for one, LIKED, the formations seen last weekend.  It was not perfect and without a doubt the offense needs to open things up, etc .... but maybe I am not seeing these other game right, but it sure looked like to me all these other "running QB's" except for maybe RG III , looked really good in the pocket.  Then if anything they make things happen when they scramble.  That is the kind of QB Cam will and can excel at.  Let him pass the ball, learn how to run an offense and use his legs when he needs to.
