Beason may not return to be a starter

too early to say, havnt given the Beast enough rehab time. Same doubters in this thread doubted that TD could come back. Put a pro athlete's back to the wall and see how they respond. A allstar like that might just surprise a lot of you. . . . again.

for now Beason definitely is not 100% back.

edit: and some of you were curious why he's not wearing a C.

We all love the beast but sometimes its time for people to move on...especially with the money we've paid him and the time he's actually spent on the field that last few years....Hey I have a Beason jersey and will continue to wear it to games..............but sometimes its time to move on...use him when we need....

I think the biggest problem with fielding Beast is the fact that our expectations are so high of him.  Considering his resume as a LB for us, you figure you set him an assignment and forget about him and let him take care of business (unfortunately he hasn't been taking care of business).  If we put a guy like Blackburn out there (who is an athletically limited player) or Klein (green and inexperienced) we know going into the play we have a slight liability (hell i'd rather run at beason, klein or blackburn rather than luke or td) and can gameplan to get help over there.  Also I don't know if you noticed but TD was blitzing a really good amount last week with Chase in.

Our best bet is to try and trade him to a desperate team right NOW, even for a poor draft pick.  I think Beason was a tad overrated in his prime.  He was well above your average linebacker and was good in all facets of the game, but he lacked that true superstar spark - the ability to take over games.  Seeing Luke now and last year completely changes your expectations on what a modern linebacker should look like on the field.  When Luke shoots a gap and gets a clean shot on some sucker you feel the hit in your nuts.  You can smell the poo that sucker just emptied into his pants.  Beason would more or less drag guys down and make a solid tackle, while a guy like Luke picks people up, repackages them into some weird shape you'd see a contortionist perform and puts them on their back.

he will not win it back here.

The job is Blackburn's to lose. Beason will not get healthy enough this year to win his position back.

Maybe a little rotation but that's about it.  Beason will leave at the end of the season... he want to play

his natural position the mike knowing that he will not win it back here.

Blackburn played ONE (1) game as a starter... and...it was against his old team, which he more then easily can recognize formations and plays ect... and we happened to win that game. How does that mean all of you jump on the Blackburn wagon? Just because we won the game? won 1 game? oh boy

He's a 9 year veteran who has started more than just ONE (1) game.

Blackburn played well in the preseason, and some of us recommended that he start over Beason.  So it's no surprise people are wanting him to start now.  My question is can Beason play special teams?  I don't know if he can run the whole field and cover on kick offs and punts.  If that is the case, I'm wondering if we should replace Beason with AJ Klein if Blackburn becomes the starter.  It's a tough time for Beason, but I'm sure he will get another shot elsewhere.

Blackburn is a consistent player. A lot can be said for that.

You don't know what you're gonna get from Beason anymore. And he's gone from the surest tackler on the team (not saying much), to a guy that misses tackles to give up big plays very, very often. He's always out of position - I think he's still adjusting to the new position, and I think his shoulder is still a problem. He needs more time to heal and learn. Right now, he's not starting caliber. Good OCs will find and exploit him. Alot of the Bills lose can be attributed to Beason's play.

    • So let me ask you this, and this is assuming you watched the first 2 games of the season. The falcons game was a back and forth between to 2 bad teams until bryce throws 2 crucial picks to help atlanta pull away. The second game was a sloppy game where the defense scored and our offense did absolutely nothing till the 4th quarter, bryce even fumbles and saints return for a TD. If Dalton starts both of those games is the outcome and playout still the same for both games?
    • sure.  I acknowledge we had a rookie making rookie mistakes.  You fail to acknowledge a pushing 40 Dalton however paired up in this trainwreck wasn't going to yield significantly better results. good results.   And Dalton didn't even win his game vs a wrecked Seattle D.  Andy Dalton couldn't even find a way for his team to beat the Carolina freaking Panthers in 2022.  A team with an interim HC, that couldn't score, playing like it was 1970.   And Andy Dalton had REAL weapons on the field at his disposal.   All Dalton had to do was score more than 10 points.  He couldn't pull that off.    I probably got as little faith in Bryce as anyone here.   But I'm not willing to go this Andy Dalton route.  Maybe he wins 4ish here.  But he wasn't doing much here.  Dalton isn't Cincy Dalton.
    • What do you think really happens here?  Do you think that Seattle loss with half a secondary is a realistic game for Dalton to consistently have?  Do you expect 40 year old Dalton to throw it 60 times and rack up 361 yards while constantly getting hit to work against other teams?  If we played him all year do you think he would rack up 6,137 yards 34 TDs and 0 INTs on over a thousand attempts?  That games wasn't a great game.  We were trailing all game and he threw it against a terrible secondary 60 times averaging 6.6 yards an attempt.  He had one "deep" pass to Chark (wide ass open) for 27 yards who ran another 20 for a TD.  That's not happening against other teams.  I would be surprised if Dalton made it two more games taking those kinds of hits and probably losing both of those games.  Our OL sucked, Our coaches sucked, and our weapons sucked.  Remember Rhule beat Andy Dalton and his Saints offense (which has a better OL and better weapons) just the prior year.  Yeah Matt Rhule...  Darnold put up 43 yards and 2 INTs and Dalton STILL couldn't beat him.  That's embarrassing.
