All depends on practice performances I would think. If the veterans do get to starting again at least we know we have some solid depth back there and young guys that can improve and can step up.

Speaking of coming back from injuries, what is the status on Mikell and Thomas and Norman? Should they all be playing against Arizona?

I think you work the young guys in and give your banged up starter 10+ plays off or so a game. It would go a long way to keeping them healthy down the stretch, not to mention it gives Lester and Melvin solid experience.

And while I'm at it, why can we have all 52 on the roster active for game day? We're paying them, they should be available for the game. The owners need to change that rule like ASAP, it's stupid that they all can't dress out for the game.

Funny how the opinion on Norman has changed around here.   :)   I remember the Ron Rivera is stupid for not starting him post.  Along with the he is the "best cornerback in the NFCS".

That being said, I hope he doesn't see the field as well.  He looks broken mentally from the abuse last year and this year.   We have all seen it happen before.... I think his name was Jake Delhomme.

It seems to me that Norman doesn't have his head into the game, film room, and listening to what he is instructed to do. Way to many mental lapses to see the field as a starter since he blows to many assignments. White is Hungary and seems to have some natural talent that can't be taught, also his ego appears to be in check which helps.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
