Bringing Barner and Stewart into the mix

KB returned to practice last week. Stewart is eligible to come off of PUP in two weeks and looks "strong" according to a Joe Person tweet from today.

DeAngelo has been a very solid back this year, ranking third in the league in rushing as recently as last week. So my question to you is this: How do we bring both Barner and Stewart into the offense without losing the production we've been getting out of the running game? With Williams doing a nice job so far, do we keep feeding him the rock and bring Stewart and Barner in to spell him only in certain situations? For example, Barner could be an asset in the screen game and a backfield of Stewart, Tolbert, Newton on third or fourth and short is going to convert 9 times out of 10.

I'm excited to get both of these guys out there, but it has to be done right to ensure the running game doesn't drop off.

I would still aim to get Williams 20-25 carries with an aim to get Tolbert and Stewart 5-10 on situational and resting downs. If Williams keeps up his production and doesn't fumble then we could do that all season.

From what people are saying here, Stewart may not be ready until late in the season. If we are out of it for some reason then I don't care as much.

Stewart is the better receiver, so I'd like to see more screens to him to get him in the open field.   I'd say use Stew early and often and then use DWill once they are worn out.  We need to use Tolbert a bit more too.  Not sure where Barner fits in.

If Stew is healthy he's a better RB than DWill, it's just the fact, but we'll see and I doubt he'll be completely ready so we'll ease him in.

RR isn't sure that Stew will be ready by week seven.Half the season almost gone by then.Don't know if this dude just doesn't heal well or what his story is. When asked about it, either no comment or won't talk about it.I think the three guys you see this week is gonna be it.

    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
