Ron Rivera et al close to ruining Cam Newton

Yeah, I'm going over the game and his mechanics either need more development OR he was never properly corrected by Shula. Cam's mechanics aren't The Golden Calf of Bristol-esque but it's a factor in what's holding him back.

One of the criticisms I've heard lately is that his throws follow a relatively flat arc rather than going high and dropping into the right spot.  It makes them easier to knock down and/or intercept.

Been paying attention to that, and they may have a point.

Using a spy is a fairly common - and effective - tactic for neutralizing runs by a mobile QB.

Best way to beat it is effective passing.  Sadly that didn't happen :(

No one was beating the man coverage before the pressure got there.  Tough to have an effective passing game with a below average OL and a below average WR corps.  We couldn't get anything going in the 2nd half and Cam started forcing things.  That led to INTs.

I like having guys like you around on here. ;)

Y'all take this forum too serious.

Wait, is the guy that sent me several random unprovoked out of the blue private messages in all caps filled with obscenities and attacks because I quoted him in a thread really telling someone else that they are taking the internet too seriously? This is an absolute riot man, lol.

As many times as they blitzed, there should have been somebody open at least a fair amount of the time, especially given that they were using a spy as well..

I'll look for that when I rewatch it.

Dont know what they did,but he looks flatfooted in the pocket and mighty confused and indecisive at times. This isn't coaching up,but coaching down. Confidence is a shaky thing and even Cam may be getting shell shocked by now.Good work guys...way to f¥ck up the franchise QB. Your work is done here and you can leave now.

Cam will end up being added to a long list of athletes trying to play QB....that we're supposed to transform the game.....only to show that being successful at the QB position is driven more by the mental aspects of the game than the physical attributes of the individual,

At some point we have to stop making excuses and just accept that Cam can really suck at times. It wasn't the coaches, it wasn't the offensive line. Cam sucked today. He held the ball for an eternity on literally every snap. It was a miracle we moved the ball at all. He made bad throws and he has consistently taken bad sacks for the past three seasons. Drive killing sacks. Sacks that move us out of field goal range. Sacks that results in turnovers. That is on him. He has plenty of time to throw the ball away and try again next play.

Wait a minute...I thought folks on here was saying Cam was throwing lights out and threading the ball into tight windows during the game yesterday?  How come the team loses and it's the same boring talking point of Cam blah...blah...blah..holding ball to long...blah..blah..blah...made bad throws..blah blah blah.

I guess it's easy to scape-goat Cam when he was always used as a scape-goat from the time he came to this team.

I have never seen such a bunch of second guessers who seem hell-bent on blame the every woes of their team on their QB and coach.

I am sure two of Cam's Ints were meant for the "Prince of this team," Smitty? But, I guess it's Cam's fault that the ball was throw to hard or to soft for Smitty to catch.

It's amazing how much some of you will want cam to continue throwing balls to Smitty so he can break some record, cause you know that is all that matters, instead of Cam distributing the ball to receivers who can make the differnce. You then will bitch that he's too focused on Smitty. He then will throw the ball around and the team will play better but Smitty's ego will be bruised and by the next game Cam is back to focusing all of his attention to making sure the King of the Panthers get a TD.

How does a team go from slaughtering a team like the Giants, who yes is struggle but is still good, to falling to a team like the Cardinals, who is more of their equal? How??? By having your QB focus all of his attention on appeasing the ego of the BELOVED WR of the team, instead of focusing on simply winning games.

Also, I love how you ignore all the drop balls by your receivers by claiming Cam didn't get balls out of his hand fast. That wasn't what I was hearing.

There lies the problem with you folks. Always looking for easy scape-goats while ignoring the BIG ASS pink elephant in the room.

Keep blaming everyone else but these are the same issues that he had coming out of Auburn. I know you want to believe it is Dorsey,Shula, Chud, etc etc but it's time to admit that he has serious defects in his game that could prevent him from being a franchise qb. He's regressed each year since year 1 and there's been a lot more bad than good. Wake up.

Wow...another post questioning Cam's "mental capacity"...AKA the not so subtle stereotyping of blacks being "smart enough" to play the the white guy's role as a QB.  Replace Cam with any of the other black QBs, in ur quote, and you will get my point... I know...bad habits are hard to break but it's way to obvious. Yawn!!! So boring.

I've been on this site for the past three or four seasons and every season it's the same boring, superficial blame game. I guess the idea of thinking outside of the box and looking at what might be really the problem with this team takes way to much brain power. Simply blaming the QB or coach, cause you to shallow to look any deeper says way more about you than it does Cam's mental state.

When fans like yourself focus so much attention on one person and expect more out of him than the rest of the team that tells me you know your team SUCK and is looking for someone...anyone, to rescue it instead of demanding more from the team as a whole.
