With a new coaching staff....could Newton be Josh Freeman'ed?

I'm sure this is at the back of some Panthers fans minds so I'm looking for a serious discussion here folks.  I go back to Dave Gettleman's offseason comments about Cam Newton.  "It's time to start winning" he said.  Well, as we can see in 2013, that's not going to be the case.  Although Gettleman denied the report, I'm sure we all know he really is investigating head coaching options for next year.  The question remains what kind of coaching staff it will be.  Will it be a coach that says "I can win with Cam Newton" or will it be a coach that says "I'm bringing in my guys.  No one is safe"

Josh Freeman seemed as safe as any QB in the league when Greg Schaino was hired by Tampa Bay in 2012.  He had a solid year in 2010 when Tampa finished 10-6 followed by a down year with Raheem Morris losing the team in 2011.  After a late season collapse in 2012, the relationship turned toxic and spilling over into 2013, Freeman is a Minnesota Viking.  Is this any indication of what is to come?  It is rare that a new coaching staff will come in and win with the existing QB.  I'm having trouble thinking of recent examples where that's been the case.  Marc Trestman had the luxury of inheriting a 10-6 team with Jay Cutler at the helm, so I will not include them as a viable example (also, the season is young).  Our old buddy John Fox made it to the playoffs with The Golden Calf of Bristol.  Jim Harbaugh did it in San Francisco with Alex Smith, but their starting QB is now Colin Kaepernick, a QB Harbaugh drafted.  Norv Turner won with Phillip Rivers.  Mike McCoy (although losing to Oakland last night) seems to have Phillip Rivers playing better and might turn out a decent season in San Diego.  Wade Phillips succeeded with Tony Romo (a QB Bill Parcells was first the head coach - and Sean Peyton had a strong hand in discovering).  Jason Garrett has a competitive team in Dallas with Tony Romo, although they haven't made the playoffs since he's been head coach.  If you have examples of new head coaches being hired and winning with the QB of the previous coaching staff, please post it.

It is also very unusual to have a QB as talented as Cam Newton and still manage to be a losing team in need of a new head coach.  It's a unique situation for a new head coach, but let this be a warning to fans...Cam Newton will not have the luxury of loyalty with the next coaching regime.  If this trend of losing continues, no matter how talented he appears, he will not be a Carolina Panther much longer.  I'm hoping the next coaching staff comes with the assurance that they believe they can win with Cam, but I'd rather have a coach that says "I'm going to win at all costs, and I have no loyalty to any particular player."  That kind of loyalty has burned the Panthers in the past and it's bound to burn them in the future if it continues.  Let's see how it all plays out.

TL;DR - with a new coaching staff not loyal to Cam Newton, could his career in Carolina end up like Josh Freeman's did in Tampa?

Without reading all that yes. He could.

Hopefully that won't happen and Cam has not had the same off the field issues Freeman had like missing meetings etc.

But hopefully we will hire a coach that wants to work with Cam's attributes instead of resist them and put a square peg in a round hole

With a new coach and new GM, no one should be safe.  With that said, I would expect a coach to sit down and meet with Cam as his first order of business upon being hired.  Everyone in the NFL is aware of the guy's raw talent and if I was the new coach coming in, I'd want to get a feel for him as a person and as a leader to determine if I wanted him to be the face of my franchise going forward.

I love Jake, but put Cam Newton at QB on those teams that Jake played for and watch what happens.  There's a Lombardi in Charlotte already if that was the case.

That's a huge stretch man...Cam Newton doesn't have anywhere near the amount of moxie Jake Delhomme had.  In his prime, Jake was as clutch as Joe Montana.  Cam Newton has all the talent in the world but I wouldn't want the ball in his hands with the game on the line.  Cam is the type of QB that needs to blow out all the teams he plays to be a winner...and that needs to change FAST.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
