Total defense

Guess who is now ranked number 1 in total defense? Thats right, we are!. We have a special group of guys out there on defense. let me be the first to say that everytime I see Thomas Davis on the field, I get a childlike grin. This guy went threw adversity with his football career in jeporady and he bounce back like a warrior. Seeing him on the field does wonders. Luke. What can I say about him that hasn't already been said. He is a great field general, enough said. Our front 7 is making a good argument at being the best in the league.

What is surprising to see this year, is great safety help. Mitchell has been great on the field. From hard hitting, to great positions for picks, he is what we have been missing. If our offense can be more consistent, we all will be in for a treat this year. Next week is critical. We have two games (Sunday and Thursday) If we win both (both are winnable) we will be looking at above .500 for the first time in the Rivera era. Let's go panthers.

One thing I do love about Rivera are his defenses.

Front 7 is gold, cant wait to see what some studs in the secondary would do for us. Dbs holding up pretty good as is.

Rivera has made pedestrian defenses into great ones without talent. He actually has a good nucleous here and it could be special

There is no question in my mind.

We have the best defense in the NFL.  Its up to the offense as to how far we go.  The defense isnt perfect(see Buffalo) but ive watched a lot of games and I dont see another defense id trade ours for.

one thing I noticed was Blackburn and Kuechly seem to have developed a good relationship.  Blackburn also made a few plays just based off of pre-snap recognition.  He looks like a great replacement to Beason.

I agree! I love the pickup. Our Lb core seems to have great chemistry with each other. I am loving it. I have to give Rivera and McD credit. They put together a great D

Unfortunately, seems to be the opposite effect he has on his offenses.

And I can't be 100% sold on Rivera's Panther defenses, when they continually allow rookie, mediocre, and good QB's alike to come back in improbable scenarios, snatching away near certain victory from the Panthers so many times. Sorry, that can't be easily overlooked or dismissed if you're supposed to be a great defense.

At this stage, I'll call them a good defense, till proven otherwise. They've only played 5 games to boot.

Ron Ron needs to maintain the game plan and aggression, on both offense and defense to close or in close/tight games.

Now if the offense scores more points, then the defense won't have to be so great. However, I'm not so sure Ron Ron can let both sides loose playing good opponents or in close games? It seems like he feels the pressure, and adjust the play calling (see Buffalo) on both sides of the ball when the games means something. We'll see?

Good Luck against the Rams Panthers!!

I agree.  A decent amount of NYG fans didn't mind seeing Blackburn go and didn't think much of him.

He's really stepped up big and looks faster/more instinctive than he did in the big apple.  Maybe it's the change in position.

The secondary has stepped up far beyond what I thought they would at the start of the season. I think our front seven makes it a lot easier for them. If the offence becomes consistent we could make a solid run.

Not to be a debbie downer but they havent exactly faced a good passing attack yet. lets wait until we play the Saints or Brady before rushing to judgement.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
