Ideal 1st Round Pick for Carolina [UPDATED]

I mean legit NFL player, that is a #1 in the NFL.  Name the last one that took 3 years to turn into a guy ready for the role.

Roleplaying WRs generally are the ones that take time to develop.  Studs tend to studs in today's NFL IMO

Roddy White is the last one I can think of.

We could end up drafting Lee in the second, to be honest, and Lyeria in the fifth or sixth (assuming G-Man wants to take a risk). Seferian-Jenkins will likely go in the Top 15 anyways. I'd like to see us draft both Ebron and Lyeria, and convert Olsen into a WR and develop Lee behind him.

Would love it if we somehow ended up with Ebron and Lyerla. I think Lyerla will end up being more of a Jenkins/Honey badger guy than Da'Rick guy come draft day. Unless Lyerla has a fifty something IQ than who knows.

What do you think about taking Ebron late in the first if Evans and Watkins have already gone and moving him to WR? If he cut his weight down slightly he wouldn't be far off Evans in terms of size and he has apparently clocked a 4.57 40 so he has speed as well.

Mike Evans reminds me of Vincent Jackson.

For some reason I have a hard time comparing Sammy Watkiks to anyone. Can someone help me out? Size wise maybe Justin Blackmon? Speed like Julio? I haven't watched him much.

Watkins is Tavon Austin but 5 inches taller, that doesn't bode well.

Sammy doesn't strike me as DG pick.

If a poster the day before the draft said we would go DT, DT, projected G,  LB RB....the entire board would have spent the remainder of day calling the OP the biggest poo head they world had ever known.

DG IMO is still wildcard.   The NY "model" from when he was there, like his first draft here, sometimes ignores glaring holes.... for big draft day head scratchers.

I'll admit KK was a head scratcher on draft day, and apparently, he was a guy Gettleman fell in love with.

But I'm willing to eat crow. What I have seen of Short so far leads me to believe the guy is going to be a star in this league, perhaps eclipsing Lotulelei before it is all done with.

    • Pretty sure Brady left due to the lack of weapons in New England. There were some saying he left because of general disagreements with BB and the way he ran the team. But I think he realized that he couldn't be successful with the team of receivers around him - other than Gronk. BB wanted to give short contracts to everyone not named Edelman.
    • NHL teams that have achieved the feat of scoring three or more goals in the final two minutes of a regulation game to win include the Carolina Hurricanes (Jan 29, 2026 vs. Utah), Dallas Stars (Oct 14, 1995 vs. Bruins), and Montreal Maroons (March 15, 1932 vs. Rangers). More recently, the Vancouver Canucks (April 2025) achieved this feat within the final minute.    Key Historical & Recent Examples Carolina Hurricanes (Jan 29, 2026): Rallied from 2 goals down in the final two minutes to beat the Utah Mammoth 5-4. Vancouver Canucks (April 8, 2025): Scored three times in the final minute of regulation to defeat the Dallas Stars 6-5. Edmonton Oilers (Dec 2025): Forced OT with three goals in the third period (including two late) against the Sabres. Dallas Stars (Oct 14, 1995): Scored three goals in the final two minutes to beat the Bruins. Montreal Maroons (March 15, 1932): Scored three goals in the final two minutes to beat the Rangers.
    • Yeah I'm not sure he'd come back even for HC. Also not sure I want him.
